TGiF 🍷🍻 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. The weekend is upon us yet again, the very first one of April. I have had a great day. I am also truly grateful for it, it's definitely a blessing to be alive 💯. I thank you all for stopping by yet again. Time to wrap things up and quickly take a look at how my day has been plus share some trending stories. Let's get rolling 💨.
So as always my day began with a little bit of stretching then a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. The sunshine and the fresh morning breeze🍃 was so wonderful. Then I was back indoors where I rested then got on with the little daily chores around the house. In between I caught up with the latest news and watched some crypto and youtube. My next walking came later in the afternoon getting some fruits and veggies from the shopping centre. Then I was back indoors for the usual nap. I woke up feeling refreshed some time early evening. watched the news then it was time for the sunset walk. As always slow paced around the neighbourhood and park. So that was the stepping and now let's quickly look at what trended in the media.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans 😹 kept going. That doctor's strike still ongoing as talks to end it resumed.
Globally, Israel has admitted that the strike that killed seven aid workers was a grave mistake😿.
Adding that correct protocol was not followed and consequently two senior commanders have been fired.Other officers censured🙀.
Good news for Gaza as Israel reopened the Erez crossing to allow more aid into northern Gaza. This after pressure from the US. A key water pipeline will also be opened.
Israel will also allow it's port in the city of Ashdod to be used for aid deliveries🎊.
Not far off, close to 3 million muslims have made their pilgrimage to mecca as a highlight of Ramadan, it's the last Friday before Eid.
Iran trending as authorities declared this Friday as a day of mourning. It was also Al Quds day as funerals were held for five revolutionary guard commanders killed by Israeli airstrikes on its embassy in Syria 😿. Iran has vowed to avenge the killings.
In Europe, Ukraine trending as Russia launched attacks on the city of Zaporizhizhia, danger as that's where the nuclear power plant is situated🙀.
Geneva trending as the UN's top human rights body called on countries to stop selling or shipping weapons to Israel in a resolution passed today.
That resolution aims to help prevent rights violations against Palestinians amid Israel's blistering military campaign in Gaza.
Across the pond in the US, president Biden was in Baltimore and met officials at the site of the collapsed bridge. He also met family members of the six missing construction workers.
The Biden administration has allocated $60 million of emergency federal highway funds for rebuilding.
Meanwhile, work is underway to remove steel and concrete debris from the waters.
Finally in crazy weather, a rare earthquake has hit parts of New York and new Jersey🙀. The 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook buildings but no major damage was reported. No casualties in the densely populated city of 8.3 million.
The last time such a quake occured in the east coast was 1884😹. All's well that ends well 💯.
