Tick tock, tick tock, well would ya look at that! Yep, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

Tuesday is here again, which can only mean one thing, another three tunes from me and hopefully from lots of you good folks too. How are all of you music loving rockers from Uarán Mór to Uluru doing on this fine evening? Sure, isn't great to be alive all the same.

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 80th week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong. 80 weeks people, that's a milestone I am delighted to have made it to, and I have never missed a week.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Weekly, I try to find three or five hours to listen to all of the fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interact with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

Here are my week eighty recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Nirvana - About a Girl

For those with good memories, you'll know that it's not that long since I did a three tune post on Nirvana, yes I keep track of what I share, as I don't want to share the same artists over and over if possible. It was week 64 and I brought you three cracking tunes from Kurt Cobain and Co, namely Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium and In Bloom.

My friend @seki1 had a recent post about acoustic songs and it made me think about my first ever CD album purchase, I had bought some singles at this point, but no albums. The album was by Nirvana and it was called All Acoustically which was basically two live shows, tracks 1 to 12 were Live from MTV Unplugged at New york and tracks 13 to 22 were live at Pier 48, Seattle in December 1993. Here is what the CD looked like:

The hardest part now is to pick just three songs, but I'll give it a go. Let's start with the first song from the New York gig.

Nirvana - Dumb

What I love about these videos is the fact that they are unedited, so you get to see the chit chat between the band members, I think that is especially special when somebody is no longer with us, as Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life aged 27 in 1994.

It's crazy to think about, because Nirvana had just made the big time, Kurt was super talented, good looking and seemed to have the world at his feet. For me it just goes to show that you never really know what is going on with people and beneath the smiling and joking exterior, Kurt must have had some demons that he felt he could not talk about or address. I suppose the drugs and alcohol did not help, but often drugs and alcohol are used by people to escape something deep within and in the end Kurt succumbed and ended his own life. I have older sisters and they were absolutely devasted by this and mourned him like a family member, they were big fans of Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Therapy, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots and are certainly responsible for some of my taste in music.

Here is Dumb.

Nirvana - Drain You

What to finish out the set with???? Ok, I have included two tunes from Live at New York and honestly I could have included any of the songs from that live album, it's flawless in my opinion. In the interests of balance though, I'll go for track 14 from All Acoustically, which is from that gig in Seatle in December 1993.

This was the eight track from 1991 studio album Nevermind.

Bonus Track - Nirvana - Man Who Sold the World

I don't often do a bonus track, but this week I will allow myself one, as Nirvana also covered some tracks on the New York gig, including songs from The Vaselines, David Bowie, Lead Belly and Meat Puppets, all worth checking out by the way, but I will opt for David Bowie's Man Who Sold The World. I like to think David and Kurt rock out in Heaven every now and again playing this one.

ThreeTune Spotify Playlist

Our good friend and regular Three Tune Tuesday poster @blackdaisyft added some tunes to a playlist in the early days and there are around 600 tunes there which is class. You can check those out here:

I still love In The Pines too.

I saw Nirvana back in... 92 I think. Early 90s anyway.

They age well too. Sometimes I think they are an old cliche and then I'll hear them and go.. wow... They WERE good.

 last year

Oh yeah, that's another classic, the whole album is just class, and I especially love the videos to watch Kurt Cobain, he was a serious dude in fairness to him and didn't have to try hard, just naturally a dude.

No shit, that's so so sweet!!! Pity it was at the Palais that you don't like much, but who cares, I'd have been happy to go see them in a dump or nuclear facility!

They definitely age well as you rightly say.

Oh and on a side note - was it you that was talking about seeing Blur??? Or was it a different band we were talking about, can't recall. You were going to see them and I was saying they weren't a band I was ever really into?

 last year

I wasn't me anyway, although I do like all of Damon Alborn's work, Gorillaz probably my fave... We were talking about Wet Leg and Nick Cave most recently

Hmm, I wonder who it was you had tickets to then.

 last year

Ah. I think I know what you're talking about now... I had Pearl Jam tickets for London, but poxy Covid-19 messed that up rightly!

Yeah i didn't care at ALL back then, we were high haha.... what a night. He was a bit of a mess too. I was lucky to see him nontheless. I also saw Jeff Buckley before he carked it too. Magical. I was beginning to think it was me and was waiting for the third haha.

I listened to Mark Lanegan's auto bio after he died and he talked about that entire scene. It's amazing anyone made it out alive. A very dark, very harrowing book in many ways. I am by no means naive and have seen, read and experienced a lot but sheesh, those guys did it hard. If Kurt didn't die when and how he did he would have died down the road of something else. I didn't realise that he was meant to go round and see Kurt that day. I'm not sure if you've ever listened to Mark Lanegan but I can't help think of him when I think about Nirvana.

It's this version that just kills me. They sure knew how to open with bass riffs in those days. So many of those songs I can id immediately by the first bass notes.

The unplugged album is one of my fav albums of all time, some good memories for me here!

 last year

Ya it's up there for me too, would rarely reside outside my top ten, in the same way as Ten from Pearl Jam, no bad songs, pure quality.

I saw Nirvana in The Point Depot in 1992, one of the best gigs ever.

 last year

No way!!! That must have been unreal. My sister had tickets for the Gig that never happened, she still talks about it.

I introduced Nirvana to my girls recently, they were impressed mostly. I was and still am a huge fan, I was devastated when Kurt died, I remember clearly where I was when I heard. A few of us wore black armbands to school for a few weeks.
So many great songs, it´s hard to pick a favourite xxxx

Ahhh, that was a lovely tribute. Ya, it hit people really hard, more than any other musician I can remember dying, maybe 2Pac was up there too, both were genius in their own way.

So many great songs, it´s hard to pick a favourite

Ya big time, that whole Unplugged album could have gone in here and that is just one album, I love all of their albums and Bleach was one of the first I got, I think because it was cheaper than Nevermind at the time, I bought it first. Remember when you used to actually buy albums!! and then spend hours listening and reading the lyrics on the inlay cards... Different times!

Really cool that you have introduced the girls to Nirvana and that they like them - you're a cool Mama.

Ah that unplugged was a classic. Love Nirvana.

Ya man, one of my fave albums of all time, serious band alright and still gaining fans all the time.

Great songs @ablaze , indeed some don't really know what happens with people beyond their exterior.
When musician's die it leaves their fans heartbroken 😭💔
I really wish they'll take care of themselves more...
Juice Wrlds death really shook me😭💔

 last year

I must admit I had not heard of Juice Wrld before, I just checked him out there and he was talented, another one gone too soon.

😭💔✨

I agree with you on Bowie and Cobain jamming up there to Man Who Sold The World. I actually heard the Nirvana version before the Bowie original but really digging both of those!

 last year

Cool man, ya both versions are great, I can't pick between them, as I really like each performance and each musician.

I love Nirvana's version of Man Who Sold The World as much as I do Bowie's version.
And it's amazing how they continue to gain thousands of fans today. My 18-year-old son loves Nirvana.

Ya that's really cool how they continue to accumulate fans year after year. I was too young to see them live. The closest I have come is seeing Foo Fighters multiple times, what with David Grohl being Nirvana's drummer and all that.

Acoustic Nirvana is about the best their is. I know there was an "unplugged" phase that a lot of bands went through (even the Kinks, and they did it pretty damn well too), but Nirvana really puts it over the top.

 last year

Ya when it comes to acoustic, there are very few that can compare to that Nirvana Unplugged album. Another I like actually is Hero by the Foo Fighters.

I'm going this Tuesday to create a post commenting on the music I like and I'm going to tag you to make my first participation in Three Tune Tuesday =)

Cool man, I look forward to your #ttt post, I will keep an eye out for it.

I hope it's not too late to share my musical contribution of the Week #80
