Three Tune Tuesday - 3 Songs from the Gig I Was At Last Friday.

I was at a Rock Choir last Friday that performed in an old church. Old churches are great for acoustics so it was the right place for them but the event took place at 8pm and it was rather cold so it was lucky I wrapped up. Nice isn't it?

It was a free ticket also. A perk from the job by letting the choir perform in the place I am in charge of which is no problem and it's a win win from my end. The choir is made up of around 40 people from the locality and they are excellent. They performed a good few rock numbers and then gave way to a few other performers who they collaborated with. One of the singers was a young lad and he was amazing. Not the usual guy with a guitar.
There was something about this guy. He had an air of John Lennon and a voice like Bob Dylan. And the best part was he sung bloody cover songs that I had not heard before. So me being me went straight home and found the originals and have played them ever since. Now the disappointing thing is the originals were worse than his versions so I am mad to see this guy again.

Mic Christopher - Listen Girl.

My aul flower @ablaze will know of Mic Christopher. He is famous in Ireland but he has long since departed this land and died young. A bit too young but his music lives on. I never really went down the Mic Christopher rabbit hole but I might do after this. As I said before I never heard this song by him so I was happy to discover a new Mic Christopher. Song is called Listen Girl.

Astal Weeks - Van Morrison

Now the wife informed me that the second song this guy did was Van Morrison Astral Weeks and having ever only sung one song which was a Van song in her life in front of me while drunk in Dublin, I was inclined to believe her. So I looked up the song and it was nothing like the song the guy had sung earlier that night. So I searched and searched and the closest I could get to it was Glen Hansard doing the Van cover of the song so here it is

Stairway to Heaven- Uproar Rock Chorus

So I have been harping on about the support act the whole night. There was no cameras or videos allowed in the church so I am gonna post their Stairway to Heaven which they performed in my place last year. You get nice views of my hometown as well actually and the what better rock song to do other than the banger Stairway to heaven.

I'm not sure about you but the last two live gigs I went to after the whole pandemic were really emotional for me. It's great that we can go to gigs again. Things were pretty hairy for a while and I think that we are out of the woods and can get to go to gigs again creates a certain emotion in me. I think the more gigs I go to the more this will subside. The first gig after Covid I went to see the Waterboys and I started bawling during Whole of the Moon. I'm not crying , you're crying!!
Sure that's what music does to me. The choir performed one song that I never heard anyone cover or perform. I was probably the only person in the town that knew of this song as I am a fan of FIFA on the Playstation and it was in this game. The song is stone mad crazy but I did add it to my "Strange Ones" playlist because it had something about it. So who blasted this song out the other night only the Rock Choir and I smiled alot. They gave it a great whack as well so one of them was a FIFA fan. The song is reggae , electronic, South American, European. It a song fused by different genres and the choir seemed to love performing it. Have a listen. It's a funny one!
