Revisión del libro los 100 mejores discos del Rock

Florecido día queridos hivers, yo acá en casa continúo desentrañando los misterios de papá, revisando sus libros, escuchando sus discos, mirando sus películas favoritas y colocando sus fotos a lo largo de toda la casa, para que su legado no se olvide.

Así que veamos como es este libro que se jacta de tener los 100 mejores discos del mundo en lo que a Rock se refiere. Ya mi hija hizo su primer reclamo, cómo es que no está Freddie Mercury en la selección, me tocó explicarle que cada selección es subjetiva, y que por lo tanto está sujeta a los gustos de quien escribe el libro.

Así que este libro, invaluable, que está lleno de grandes estrellas de la música no deja a nadie indiferente, aunque omita a ciertos cantantes y/o músicos que también merezcan estar aquí. Al igual que el otro está dividido por secciones, según el año en que se produjeron estos discos. Y como es una selección de la música más transgresora del mundo, podemos notar las tendencias de diseño más alocadas, a diferencia del anterior que reseñé que más bien hacía una capitulación más amplia de la historia musical.

Este libro trae a mi memoria no solo los recuerdos de sus notas musicales, también hace referencia a la cultura cinematográfica, al exponer, en sus portadas, muchas grandes obras del cine y su banda sonora que, a mi gusto, lo completa de una manera sorprendente.

Yo no había nacido cuando B-52's hacía bailar a mi padre con sus notas y la hermosa voz de Kate Pierson, pero ninguna otra banda pudo hacer (mejor que ellos) la banda sonora de la película de los Picapiedras, una de mis favoritas de la infancia. Así también me hizo feliz con la canción de R.E.M. Shiny Happy People, y cuando Michael Stipe, su vocalista dijo que definitivamente Kate era la única que podía cantar esa canción con él, yo solo pude estar de acuerdo. Una canción triste y alegre, nostálgica y con una estética avant garde, con sus voces como lamentos que hacen estrujar mi corazón.

So this invaluable book, which is full of great music stars, leaves no one indifferent, even if it omits certain singers and/or musicians who also deserve to be here. Like the other is divided by sections, according to the year in which these records were produced. And since it is a selection of the most transgressive music in the world, we can notice the craziest design trends, unlike the previous one I reviewed which rather made a broader capitulation of musical history.

This book brings to my memory not only the memories of its musical notes, it also makes reference to the cinematographic culture, by exposing, in its covers, many great works of cinema and its soundtrack that, to my taste, completes it in a surprising way.

I was not born when B-52's made my father dance with their notes and the beautiful voice of Kate Pierson, but no other band could do (better than them) the soundtrack of the Flintstones movie, one of my childhood favorites. So also made me happy with R.E.M.'s song Shiny Happy People, and when Michael Stipe, their vocalist said that Kate was definitely the only one who could sing that song with him, I could only agree. A sad and happy song, nostalgic and with an avant garde aesthetic, with her vocals like laments that make my heart squeeze.

Así me pasa, también con Bob Dylan, a quien conocí gracias a la película protagonizada por Cate Blanchett I'm Not There, del director Todd Haynes, que además de dirigirla también es el autor del guion. Así he conocido a muchos otros músicos a quienes conocí a destiempo gracias a la magia del cine.

A Pink Floyd lo conocí en mi adolescencia gracias a mis estudios tempranos de artes plásticas, donde estudiamos de cine y otros lenguajes artísticos y el profesor de escultura, Guillermo Abdala nos llevó a la biblioteca a ver The Wall, la genial película, dirigida por Alan Parker y escrita por Roger Waters, esta película me abrió lo ojos en una edad en que definitivamente, lo necesitaba, ojalá hubiese sido antes.

So it happens to me, also with Bob Dylan, whom I met thanks to the film starring Cate Blanchett I'm Not There, by director Todd Haynes, who in addition to directing it is also the author of the screenplay. In this way I have met many other musicians whom I met at the wrong time thanks to the magic of cinema.

I met Pink Floyd in my adolescence thanks to my early studies of plastic arts, where we studied film and other artistic languages and the sculpture teacher, Guillermo Abdala took us to the library to see The Wall, the great film directed by Alan Parker and written by Roger Waters, this film opened my eyes at an age when I definitely needed it, I wish it had been earlier.

También me encantó encontrar portadas de artistas conocidos y otros desconocidos pero brillantes, adoro el arte orgánico y psicodélico de esa época tan libertaria.

I was also delighted to find covers by known and unknown but brilliant artists, I love the organic and psychedelic art of that libertarian era.
