I know that this is a tough decision- it is for me anyway, as I love all music the world over and as I was thinking about this ohhh so tough question, a tune popped into my head for a split second like a fleeting Australian jazz funk fusion band in the wind- who have infact endured for a good couple of decades now (so not so fleeting...) and that fleeting thought made me jump up in my chair and yellll WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo because right then, I knew just who I wanted- nah NEEDED to introduce you to! ( and I haven't stop dancing since....🤣.)
Forming in Melbourne in 1999, this fantastic 6 piece band, a fabulous fusion of jazz, funk, ska, and rock with heavy Latin influences, are not only a star band, but also have deep seated roots within various environmental and human rights communities.
The band have been official ambassadors for Melbourne organization Asylum Seeker Resource Centre https://asrc.org.au/about-us/ since 2011, which provides aid, justice and empowerment programs to over 1000 asylum seekers living in the community seeking refugee protection.
They actively participate in events and running fundraising initiatives for the ASRC, as well as contributing to other environmental campaigns centred on saving the The Great Barrier Reef in QLD, so not only are these guys musical geniuses, but also keep it real too, and what perfect time it is to introduce you all to them because.......drummmmm roll please Daniel........ many of you will have the chance to see them live this year as they......

I had the most fantastic opportunity to see them live back in the very early 2000's as they played live at the Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns https://www.tanksartscentre.com/ but unfortunately this is before phones became cameras, so only the memories in my mind shall remain, but what memories they are- What a brilliant, incredible, wonderful night it was and I would LOVE to see them live again so ofcourse, I have just signed up for their newsletter so I'll now be in the know....🤣 https://thecatempire.com/#
