Larnell Lewis is a Canadian drummer, composer, record producer and educator with immense talent, great creativity and an ever-evolving musical style. He has toured the world with prominent musicians like trumpeter Etienne Charles, who blends historic Afro-Caribbean musical traditions and jazz; gospel, blues, jazz and soul singer and songwriter, and actor Gregory Porter; gospel, jazz, rhythm and blues and soul vocalist, composer and record producer Lalah Hathaway; bebop and hard bop tenor saxophonist and songwriter Benny Golson; jazz singer and composer Kurt Elling; jazz and jazz fusion vibraphonist and songwriter, and educator Gary Burton; jazz, progressive jazz, fusion jazz and contemporary jazz guitarist Pat Metheny; jazz-rock guitarist and composer John Scofield; and rhythm and blues, soul, pop/rock, electronic music and house vocalist and songwriter Lisa Fischer, among others.

Born in Toronto, Lewis began playing drums at the age of two in church, where he learned to perform gospel, calypso, reggae and funk, in addition to taking electric bass and piano classes, and enrolled the Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in his hometown.
