I’ve dabbled with music for the past 15 years already. I’ve always loved music, and how it makes me feel and I love people so I love being able to make them feel something.
I was never much of a “musician” though and certainly not a high level instrumentalist.
A lot of my desire to create, not only music, but other artistic work, was driven by a desire for the after-effect of the creation, not for a passion in the process of creating. I wanted to give people goosebumps, or help them to understand things that they had a hard time understanding, or open up a new path for them.
Somehow through a combination of writing on hive, failing at my goals countless times, getting to know myself better and developing a better relationship with life, I finally came to love the creative process.
For the past three or four years most of that love has gone into writing, and general skills like simple video editing and photo editing, nothing too complex, just a basic understanding.
Since my goal was never to make folk music, I think I needed to escape the acoustic guitar for a while in order to appreciate music the same way. I knew I was limited by the sounds of just a single instrument without any kind of enhancement of other tools. Don’t get me wrong, acoustic guitar is great, but there’s so much more I want to do and finally being able to explore it has opened up new channels of creativity.
So now with a simple set up of an electric guitar, an app, reverb, Drive, a multi-effect pedal, and a loop pedal (and my delay which broke!) I’m finally in love with playing guitar.
It won’t only be guitar, I’m interested in all kinds of instruments and kinds of music, but since most of my experience has been on guitar, it’ll be fun to actually develop my skills to a level where I can create any kind of music and play with all kinds of people. I have a bass and a djembe, and plan to buy a midi keyboard, but for now I’m focused on guitar.
One thing I’m focused on now are speeding up my playing while improving my skills and knowledge of music theory. I’ve gotten my 5 major scale shapes up to 130-140 BPM and from now i want to focus on smaller parts of the scale
The other focus is all these beautiful effects that can change my music in ways I hadn’t imagined before. Theres a lot to learn with each pedal.
I had the idea to start doing a live stream jam once or twice a week, and turning it into a threadcast on Leo. This would simultaneously let me get used to playing in front of people, even if I can’t see them, and even if only a few people.
I’ve done three live streams already, and while I’m doing them, it feels kind of haphazard and messy, but when I go back to watch them I’m blown away by some of the stuff I play. It wctually sounds good!
I know I have a good sense of melody, that’s the one thing that I’m confident about, that and the ability to identify interesting things that other people aren’t paying attention to.
I don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera yet but it seems that my muscle memory and creativity isn’t hamped too much by this discomfort.
Here are a few clips:
I finally let go and now I can flow. Just practicing jamming in front of a camera
First week on electric guitar 🤯 I feel electric!
First time playing with distortion pedal 😱 I feel like a shitty Jimi Hendrix!!! 😍
If you like those even a little, please subscribe to this youtube channel (i_plus_everything) so i can start hosting the live-streams from my music channel instead of my podcast channel 🔥

I’m pretty hyped cause some of what just came out naturally are already ideas that I’d like to develop into songs. Right now I have so many ideas that I’m not even sure how to develop them all.
This is a start contrast to me how I’ve been for the past 15 years, slowly piecing together songs over the course of years, hardly able to get into the creative mode. Now it’s just like a button that I can turn on and off at any time.
Hope to do another live stream in the next 48 hours, probably around the same time that I’m posting this. The next few live streams I hope to develop a few song ideas into more concrete melodies.
To be notified of the live stream subscribe to the podcast channel, untangled nuts. And check out the threadcasts at the top of INLEO.
I’ve got an EP up on Spotify, Apple, YouTube and elsewhere called “Sun Shone Blue” by I+Everything, feel free to check that out too! 🐨

Wow, you play so well, jamming the chords and strings. 👍
It's nice that you've finally gotten back to doing what you love most. Music is life, and playing all these instruments is even more fun.
I wish you the best on this journey.
