Commute Boredom - Making Beats During My Commute

Now that I have to go back into the office for work again I'm stuck with a commute. So to pass the time I bought an Akai MPK mini portable midi controller and have been using it to create little drum loops and lead phrases on the train. These are my first week of tests where I'm mainly exploring the different sound libraries that come with MPC 2 and playing around with effects and different features. Eventually I want to start using the drum midi for my workstation at home where I can remap it to better sound libraries like superior drummer and better synths like rapture to use it in more structured songs. For now this setup allows me to not waste time commuting and opens up some new creativity for composing drums and songs before and after work.

Here's a shot of my mpc akai setup. Perfect for sitting on the train making beats before and after work.

That was a fun ride. Nice commuting music. Seemed a little like a video game playing 'time is passing" soundtrack lol. We used to ride BART into San Francisco from the suburbs. Its always fun to do occasionally because you get a totally different view than the freeways. But as a regular commute, the boredom soon sets in I'm sure.

The goofy sound libraries that cone with mpc are abit out of my genre, still its fun trying to work with the sounds. Definitely works for video game music sounds. I had to ride the bart a couple times for some projects in california. A bit smaller seats compared to the old fashioned trains i ride into chicago, but the bart is much smoother.

Haha thanks hopefully yoda approves

💯🤗🎊I heard your music when I was working and it's super cool for working by the way. Compliments to ya. Hope to hear more nice sound from ya like that.
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

I'll try and make full compositions next, gotta learn how to trigger sequences via the drum pads in mpc.

That's sounds like a plan. Greeeat. Can't wait to hear your next composition 🤗💯🎶😎 you sell your songs in nftshowroom too? Just asking... Hahaha🎉🎧🎼🎤🎸💃🎊

I still have to figure out hive swaps but I might give it a try.

To handle the hive swap is easy. Just login your nftshowroom.com account. If you have Hive liquid just swap it there in hive swap (on the right is a button to do that) and tuuudoooo done 🤗😜😎 also to swap it back to Hive is done in a sec 🎶💯👌🏼let us know with a post if you do that. If I am liquid enough and the music is dope like this... You got me. Hahahaha 💃💯🎧🎉🎨🎤🎸

Great article, thanks for sharing
