Emotions Run High - Benjamin Clementine (Three Tune Tuesday)

in Music2 years ago (edited)

I love, that there is so much music out there in the world, that I will never get to hear it all. Music to suit whatever mood I am in, to help guide me through my life. It is such a powerful medicine and one that I, indulge in daily.

Sometimes, I wake up with a certain song in my head. I have been known to greet my girls with a song first thing and that song can really set the tone of my day, but hey, I can always flip it up by singing another. That's what's so good, about the world of music.

It can transport us and transform us. Music that can bring tears to my eyes or a smile to my lips.

Benjamin Clementine

Today I wanted to share an artist, who has moved me in so many ways. Usually when he performs, it is just him with his piano. I am a huge fan of piano music and some of his music is just that, no vocals, just him showcasing his amazing talent on the piano.

Then there is his voice, which has so much depth and power to it. It invokes so many emotions in me, I can listen to his music and journey with him as he shares his experience of life. From his time living on the streets of Paris, where he was discovered busking.

I give you Benjamin Clementine.

I Won't Complain was the first song of his, that I heard and it was the piano that drew me in. I closed my eyes and drifted away with it. And then his voice comes in. Singing " It's a wonderful Life". A voice that carried so much pain and depth with it.

I dream,
I smile,
I walk,
I cry

Sharing his pain, wearing it like a badge of honor. Pain that shaped and inspired him, pain that he won't complain about.

This is the same song, except it features some of the best choreography I have ever seen. As emotional as the song made me, this performance by Chibi Unity and choreographed by Larkin Poynton, brought it to a whole other level. I just had to share it, as it so beautifully expresses what I and so many others I imagine feel when they listen to this song.

Last Movement Of Hope. Here he plays the piano and allows it, to tell his story. Gentle and so moving, So fitting these days, as the long awaited rain, finally arrives in my part of the world and I sit here listening to this. with grey skies above me and damp earth beneath. Yes it is a little melancholy, but that is the beauty of music as it gives us space to just be. To sit back and absorb the world around us. So close your eyes as you listen and allow yourself to drift away.( I think you might like this one @rubencress, I hope you share some of your piano playing with us again.)

This one, "Copening Weakend" is from his latest album. Him on the piano, with string instruments in the background, as he shares his soul with us, in such a poetic way. The video so visually beautiful to watch. It really is two creations in one, creating two moods, two experiences, as unpredictable as love itself.

Oh it's the lonely paths
That paves the only crafts
Giving us thrills to survive
Bringing means to our lives
Oh oh
Guess who's howling home
Oh oh
Guess who's howling home
This windy road
Won't crash my hopes

Big up @ablaze for this wonderful initiative, encouraging us to share music that has been a part of our lives. If there is one thing that I love, it is to share music and to hear new music. So loving this initiative for that very reason.

Benjamin Clementine. I like it

Cheers, glad you enjoyed the music xxx

I am grasped by his piano playing, the sound of his voice and his overall energy from the start. Thanks for pointing me to (t)his music :^)

Abraço

You are very welcome Vincent, I do love to share music. Now I have to remember you snd you my email lol. I am so forgetful these days. You're not on telegram are you? xxxxx

Oeh, I like that yes. I thought I heard a little bit of Erik Satie in that song around 3:46 and 3:58~. Those are some very heavy and filling chords (and very difficult to combine). I wish I had a piano here, but I haven't touched one for a few months now. Thank you for sharing Benjamin Clementine! That was a great piece. Hope all is well ^^

Hey Ruben, I thought you might enjoy him. Oh I assumed you had one where you lived. I do hope you get to play one soon. I'm doing okay. Love to you and @lackofcolor xxxx

Ya defo, music is so powerful. It's so important to me and can't imagine a world without it.

Benjamin Clementine - Wowsers, he is super talented. I am short of time this evening and only listening to snippets of songs as I am coming down with something, as my energy is low, but I still listened to the entirety of these songs. Powerful.
