Savoring Simplicity

Wherever and whenever, what I like to have in my environment are the things that really matter, be it digital space, mental space, or physical space. There is that healthy sense of connection between myself and my environment and peace of mind when most of what's in sight are "the necessities."

I guess that's why I know now that I really do not like to share my space with people. The reality is that I am pretty simple, with certain principles that may come off as strict to some people.

"You are so principled, Jay." A common phrase I hear often for things as little as "do not put water on my table." My table is only for my laptop, phone, books, and anything related. Water on that same table is just a hazard that I cannot risk having around. So the rule is, never put a cup, bottle, or any container with water on my table.

I make use of corners a lot in my space. I like to have that space at the centre for me to freely walk about and not bump into anything. What you'll find in Jay's room is his bed in one corner, his desk for creativity in another, and then his wardrobe and shoe rack in a different corner. And then there would be this expanse of freedom for mobility in the centre.

Most people know me to be a person who is excellent at maintaining things and allowing them to last a long time in my care. To some people, it's impressive that my current smartphone will be three years old soon enough and still look brand new. The previous one lasted even longer before I replaced it, and I often got the same compliment. I digress, however.

The fact that I am good at "keeping things" doesn't imply that I love to store things. No, I do not really fancy the idea of keeping some set of items that I wouldn't use for centuries, just because "they could come in handy some day."

If the frequency of usage of something is really low, I really don't like to have it around. I'd either let it go or maybe just find somewhere really out of sight to store it if it's normally expensive. My mother would disagree, though. She keeps everything!

I always like order in my things. My hangers are usually sorted by color. My clothes were hung or folded according to categories. My wardrobe contains only the necessary things.

Keeping my space decluttered extends to my PC as well. For one, I often like to keep my home screen clear. When I open it, all I want to see is the wallpaper, and there are no software shortcuts around. I'd just search for what I need whenever.

This really is my wallpaper on my phone these days. It's just a black wallpaper with "less is more" written at the center. Something I made on Canva and set as a wallpaper as a daily reminder that sometimes there's beauty in simplicity and minimalism. So every day, I try to set my life according to that, even in my conversations with people.

You truly take decluttering and organisation to a whole new level. I don't think my eagerness to get things done would let me keep my PC's homepage free from shortcuts. And I love how everything seems to have its own place in your room. It's certainly something I would want to visit someday. You're doing well, Minion.🌺

I'd like for you to visit someday. Take you on a tour round Castle Jay-topia. Another thing I love is refreshing scent. So, just to be prepared, what's your favourite scent?

And as for the PC homepage, it was actually just a switch somewhere in the settings. It may have been a little tedious to clear it every time, but I'd still do that anyway.

I connected with what you expressed here; your preference for not having water on your table is the same for me.
I live in a tiny space, and I'm always looking and trying to mitigate hazards or any potential ones.

Thanks for sharing this heartfelt post, it was a pleasure to read, and I appreciate that you used your own photos:)

Thanks for your #KISS
I enjoyed it 😉

Other than the fact that laptops and accessories are really costly these days, I never want to have to deal with the potential of losing my files or a couple of day's work just because some cup of latte spilled on them.

I wonder what your preference on desk sizes is. Do you like really large desks or small ones? If you could choose...

I don't matter the size of the desk much, as I work with what I have, in a small space. However, I pay close attention to the height of the desk and ensure that it's properly positioned to avoid strain on my neck or bad posture:)

Hmmm...I have never paid much attention to desk heights before. I'm guessing that you have an adjustable desk. Is that right? Never had such before.

On top of my desk, I have an extra adjustable one.
It's a precaution against straining my neck:)

Ohh... I know that accessory at the bottom. Been wanting to get one because, for some reason, it's much easier to type when the keyboard is at angle. The angle that I see here, though, seems really high. Is that the most comfortable for you?

PS: that's a pretty neat pair of glasses I'd like to steal.

🤗

Reading this post assured me that I have a replica somewhere.
What I like and what I do👍
Less is more!

Oh, really? I guess we're alike in some regard.

This is my first time of seeing a guy who like organizing things

That's very surprising.

Hello stranger,

Wow, you're neat!

Nice to see some of your interior world. I reckon keeping things that organized must create lot of space in your soul for peace

Hey, stranger! 😁

You know this thing very well, Nicky. I wonder what you think about wall decor. What's your take on it?

I just want to read everything and pass by 😂 but it's the stranger for me 😂

Just waka pass, comrade 😁

:)

Hmmmmm... I love art so. I was going to get a massive monotone map of the world on my bedroom wall as a mural!

And I had a Tryptic of three enormous black and white photos, taken by a dear friend, of some temple they visit in a jungle somewhere on. my lounge wall.

I'm all into art. On walls. It'd just have to be chose carefully for me. An escape, if you will. Meditative stuff for sure!

Hmm...I understand

You must love monochrome colours, right? That's what I could tell anyway.

I'm not that into art and would only like it minimal in my home.

:)

Totally prefer monochrome and perhaps a touch of one brighter colour.

Thing is - I ended up in textile design for some years and - well what do you know - my ability to match colours for design and print was pretty darned good!

Don't believe everything they tell you at uni ;)

I've also recently found a designer who uses pretty awesome palettes. I guess it depends on that at the end of the day.

Ah, I see. I like things simple, so monochrome with a touch of one bright colour works well for me. I'd like to visit someday.

And, of course not, I don't believe everything they tell me. Heh

I'd like you to visit someday.

I sawa your video you YT, btw. 2k views! Impressive! :D

I do hope you're still making music, angel
