Me, Myself, and I: A Self-Portrait Story

in Photography Lovers7 months ago (edited)

I have always been fond of getting myself clicked in a saree. My love for traditional Indian outfits is neverending. Ever since I was a little I used to drape myself with my mum's dupatta. I would always play dress up, and I'm pretty sure a lot of you might have done the same. When I look back I just realize I'm just the same little kid who used to play dress all alone and 15 years later I'm still doing the same but this time I get to show the internet my photography skills as an individual.

In this photoshoot, I dolled up myself and decided to take pictures of myself. Also experimented with how I do my makeup usually to how I did it in this photoshoot. I definitely wanted to challenge myself and get really experimental and so it was the beginning of my learning time.

Although I have been taking self-portraits since 2019, I didn't fully put myself out there. I was still in staying in my comfort zone just because I thought people would judge me, but then again at the end of the day does it matter ? I just simply wanted to learn and hopefully have fun during the process so I stopped caring about what people would say and just went ahead with experimenting and experimenting more. the past four years have been delightful and what did I learn in all these years of practice?

  1. I learned how crucial it is to experiment.
  2. How gear isn't that important and skills are what matter
  3. How practicing consistently is crucial
  4. Learning editing software will help you bring your photos to life

self portrait photography is form of visual art form and also can be a way to express yourself. i have come across creators and photographers who show their vulnerability and stories through photographs. and ofcourse sometimes it can be just for some fun!

Remember the point is to create art, may it have a story behind it or not. make sure to have fun in the process and be proud of your work! and also keep practicing.
