A Touch of Mirrored Color

One Last Autumn Lake Photo ..

Because I am sure you’re either getting tired of seeing them on my blog feed, or quite possibly I ran out of decent shots that I took last Saturday. Ha ha ha ha. Either way I have this one last photo of the group that I wanted to share with my Photography Lovers today.

I wandered down to the waters edge as close as I could get without getting my feet wet..

I would have step into the water to take this photograph, but the sand right at the edge is very soft and I would have sunk up to my knees. Since it was very chilly this particular morning, when the photograph was shot, I did not feel like getting wet. Can you relate? No, I'll stay dry thank you.

I crouched down so as to get a lot of the foreground in the photo. The foreground, in this instance, was the water. The neat part about the shot is that you can see some of the larger stones or pebbles that are just under the surface of the water. The edge tapers off slowly at first then quickly drops off about 15 feet out. The slow gradual taper, along with the still and calm water surface, allows some of that bottom to show up in the picture (lower right). I always liked those photographs taken out west or up north in canada, where the waters are crystal clear and one can see the bottom of the lakes. @daveks takes some of those awesome shots.. Check out his blog for some of that landscape eye candy. We don’t have that around here so this will have to do!

The early morning air temperature sat right above freezing .. And the lake waters had to be in the upper 50s (F). This temperature difference between water and air causes a thin mist to be emitted from the lake's surface, as the waters evaporates. Just like a hot cup of coffee would give off a slow, steady steam, the lake is doing some of the same. I suppose that’s one way to look at it. Anyhow, it adds a neat visual effect looking straight across the lake to the other side. Those little bits of mist accumulate and create a fuzzy white line right toward the center of my picture. It softens the edge of the bank where the water meets the trees.

The mirrored splash of autumn color steals the show on this photo. I observed Birch, Maple, fiery red Oaks, and some other types of trees littered in between each other and along the banks. The water was so still that there’s almost a perfect reflection in it. There’s just enough of a breeze to create a small rippling effect in the water that differentiates it from the bright blue sky. @bashadow was nice enough to point this out on one of my other posts.

To the right of my photograph, you can see branches and logs .. That are falling into the water and lie at the lakes edge. I think these sort of add an element of texture to the photograph and wish I was able to capture more of it than I did. Some people don’t like to gather these things in their photographs because they believe it looks trashy, I think it’s a great representation of what nature is all about.

Nature isn’t perfect and neither am I. That’s a good realization to come to, and embrace, when enjoying moments like this.

Very beautiful. That is my dream right there. I want to live on an inland lake. Somewhere that I can go fishing whenever I want or kayaking... Sadly, besides the great lakes, the two closest inland lakes to where I live are no longer existent.

I think a good fit for you would be the thousand Islands up on the St. Lawrence River. Have you heard of it!? There are a ton of houses on these islands only accessible by boat. I took a trip up there with family along time ago and really enjoyed it. I am sure the winters are a real pain in the butt, but the beautiful summers or simply amazing.

That does sound amazing! My wife did a house boat one summer down in Kentucky with her family and that sounds really cool too. I am going to check that area out you mentioned.

I love how the fog adds to it~ ❤️ Fantastic waterscape!
I instantly want to live there. In a little cabin right by the lake.
Wonderful work my dear sweet friend @bdmillergallery. God bless you.

An old style log cabin with a wood-burning fireplace would be absolutely perfect! I see your mind thinks like mine. LOL. Thanks for stopping by again and leaving a comment. I appreciate the support.

We haven't much fall color here left after the storms but fortunately still lots of coffee. Loving that first shot. Must have been truly spectacular in the cold air:)

Coffee is a must! Thanks for the compliment! The cold air is definitely a nice change, but I am not ready for the cold cold cold weather that I'm sure is going to come.

Few ever are:)untitled.gif

Oh yeah! You found the one and only that does.. and maybe these too hehe
