Este maravilloso enclave se encuentra en la costa noroeste de España, en un emplazamiento limítrofe entre dos comunidades autónomas. Más concretamente podemos apreciar esta playa en el ayuntamiento de Ribadeo, dentro de la provincia de Lugo en la comunidad autónoma de Galicia.

Su nombre original es playa de Augas Santas, pero sus característicos arcos (de más de treinta metros de altura), que recuerdan a los arbotantes de una catedral, hacen que se haya hecho famosa por su otro nombre.
El tamaño de dichos arcos, alcanza en algunos casos más de 30 metros de altura y es posible pasear bajo ellos. En total encontramos 3 arcos diferentes.
Se puede decir que su extensión varía considerablemente con el estado de la marea, siendo su longitud máxima de 1.328 metros en marea baja. Es muy importante revistar el estado de las mareas para poder acceder, puesto que con marea alta el arenal queda sepultado por el agua.

This wonderful enclave is located on the northwest coast of Spain, in a bordering location between two autonomous communities.More specifically we can appreciate this beach in the municipality of Ribadeo, in the province of Lugo in the autonomous community of Galicia.

Its original name is Augas Santas beach, but its characteristic arches (over thirty meters high), reminiscent of the flying buttresses of a cathedral, make it famous by its other name.
The size of these arches reaches in some cases more than 30 meters high and it is possible to walk under them. In total there are 3 different arches.
It can be said that its extension varies considerably with the state of the tide, being its maximum length of 1,328 meters at low tide. It is very important to check the state of the tides to be able to access, since at high tide the sandy area is buried by the water.

Para ser honesto, tengo que contar en este post que también existe una variante que opina que estas formaciones rocosas no son creadas por la naturaleza, todo lo contrario. Según algunos estudios no acabados ni oficialmente confirmados, explican que podrían ser creadas por el hombre.

➡️ Podría haber habido signos de intervención humana en una mina de oro en la playa que desde entonces han sido erosionados por el viento y el mar. Es imposible encontrar las pruebas porque gran parte de ellas han sido destruidas. Por lo tanto, es necesario buscar pruebas alrededor de la playa, por encima del nivel del mar.
En un acantilado con vistas a la playa de las catedrales y al mar, los geólogos encontraron un canal artificial sin fecha, tallado en el suelo, que guarda similitudes con los canales utilizados por los romanos para excavar minas de oro en la zona. Durante sus búsquedas de oro, los romanos encendían fuegos en el suelo y apagaban las llamas con agua que llevaban los canales, proceso que agrietaba el suelo para poder excavar con herramientas de mano

On a cliff overlooking the beach of the cathedrals and the sea, geologists found an undated artificial channel, carved into the ground, which bears similarities to the channels used by the Romans to excavate gold mines in the area. During their search for gold, the Romans lit fires in the ground and extinguished the flames with water carried by the canals, a process that cracked the ground so they could dig with hand tools.

Aunque sea una playa, dependiendo del momento del año que acudas a ella, tendrás que pedir cita previa para poder pisarla. Si, cita previa. En los meses de verano, coincidiendo con la temporada alta de turismo se limita el acceso a ella. El objetivo de la medida es limitar el acceso al público para evitar saturaciones y conservar un entorno único. La Xunta de Galicia restringe a 4812 personas por día el número de turistas que pueden visitarla.

De momento, los tickets se pueden conseguir solo con 15 días de antelación y es necesario rellenar un formulario con los datos del interesado (nombre, domicilio, datos de contacto y el país de procedencia). Se permite hasta un máximo de 30 por persona. Al elegir la fecha deseada, se indica también el número de plazas vacantes e información sobre las mareas, dato relevante debido a que la belleza playa se aprecia con plenitud durante la bajamar.

Esta icónica playa es un imán para todos los fotógrafos de paisaje del mundo que acuden a retratar sus famosos arcos. Sin duda, una de las mejores experiencias es acudir en la noche para apreciar en soledad las inmensas construcciones de la naturaleza. Muy importante revisar la tabla de mareas antes de acceder al arenal para evitar sustos.
Si tu intención es retratar un amanecer, tengo que decirte que estás de suerte, puesto que el sol asciende justo detrás de los arcos.

This iconic beach is a magnet for landscape photographers from all over the world who come to photograph its famous arches. Undoubtedly, one of the best experiences is to go at night to appreciate in solitude the immense constructions of nature. It is very important to check the tide table before accessing the sandy area to avoid scares.
