Hello, today I present to you this secluded chapel in the middle of nowhere. During one of my many business trips, I occasionally veer off the highway to have a meal outdoors, where the cuisine is not only of higher quality but also more cost-effective. This time, I decide to dine al fresco, especially in good weather. I was familiar with this place, having discovered it by chance some time ago. I knew I would find solitude here, alone, with an enchanting landscape to contemplate. Upon my arrival, my solitude was interrupted by the presence of an elderly man observing the interior of the chapel. Out of politeness, I greet him. To my surprise, he responds and initiates a conversation. Courtesy prevails as I listen and respond to his inquiries. Realizing I am not from the region, he begins to narrate the history of this chapel. He informs me that there have been recent thieves who broke into the chapel to steal the stone slabs. Some of these slabs can weigh over 300 kg. Evidently, the thieves were organized and discreet, carrying out their theft away from prying eyes. Their method involves taking these massive stone slabs, used as flooring in churches, chapels, and very old houses, and cutting them into thin layers in the direction of thickness. They sell them for over 100 euros ($) per square meter. The total amount involved was approximately 10,000 € without cutting and 30,000 € when cut into three layers. It's worth noting that this chapel has existed for a very long time. Although the original bell tower disappeared due to its destruction by invaders, the rest has endured. Part of the soul of this chapel has vanished into the residence of an indifferent individual, oblivious to the origin of the slabs. It is also worth emphasizing that Romans were previously settled on the site, and to conceal the existence of the gods they worshipped, this chapel was erected. Romans, in turn, displaced Gauls who were established before them. Ultimately, in the history of this site, there has always been a thief who came to take what the previous one left, for over 2000 years. (Gauls - Romans - Chapel - Slab thief...)

Thank you for your comment and also for your visit!!
Beautiful images and an interesting story that you tell, I wish that what remains of the place could be protected from now on so that future generations can see it and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing with us.
The fact that this chapel is outside the village about 2 km makes it even surprising that nothing more was stolen. Thank you for your visit and your comment
