Failure Of The Devils Comet Hunter...

I've been wanting to get shots of Comet P12/Pons-Brooks, aka the devils comet since I knew about it's existence. Now living in the UK, this is a harder task than you'd think, especially this time of year as this year so far has been wet, cloudy and basically miserable.

By the way the above image was taken of the milkyway a few years ago by myself.

So last night they weather said intermittent cloud, so as I thought it would be mainly clear with the odd cloud, however it was the other way around, it should have said "intermittent clear bits", I drove over to the highest part of town near me (Penny Hill), parked up looking over the field I the direction of the comet, it was so hard to get focus as I didn't have any stars to focus on only in the gaps as they opened up.

The wind was really blowing, it was also freezing too, with only the sound of owls and the wind turbines spinning, I eagerly awaited some clear skies, then, it started to bloody rain, which hadn't been forecast, so I packed up and called it a day.

Now tonight is looking slightly better, so I'm hoping I can get the shot, and if I do, you will be the first to know. I have everything crossed, hoping the wind will have died down a bit too.

I posted the only two shots I managed, although I do like them, it's certainly not what I wanted.

Thanks for reading,

All the best :-)

Same for me, I did not succeed to look at the comet. Good luck for the next try
