Ever since I started taking photography seriously, I've been paying attention to trees as I think these are not only interesting but mysterious too. Having only very limited knowledge about trees, always makes me wonder how certain things have formed and especially why.
City life can be of many kinds and in many cases development is done by sacrificing nature. Trees are cut, parks are eliminated, making space for new constructions. Birds have no place to live anymore and the remaining is chased away by force because they make a mess. Concrete takes over, parks are becoming smaller and smaller and in some cities plants are brought in in buckets and moved where they think these are needed.
Then fresh air becomes something you can only dream of and the distance between people and nature becomes bigger and bigger. Kids don't know any flowers or birds, just the ones they teach at school.
When I was in elementary school, we had to have a herbarium filled with certain medical plants. We were given a specific list and had to collect, dry and put them in the herbarium. If I were to do that today, I would be in a deep trouble as could not find any of those plants around my home, would be forced to go to the countryside to look for them.
Trees are tailored based on available space and overall look of the place. Branches are cut to adjust the height and the length to not bother people and/or electricity cables.
Ok, putting aside these (not exactly good or pleasant) things, looks at the photo above. I suppose an old branch has been cut and the tree had grown a protective ring around the wound.
This one must have been butchered several times over the years I suppose as the trunk looks terrible. Looking at the photo, if I will be wondering in a few years about when this photo might have been taken, I would know the answer right away, by looking at the mask. People have the habit of making a mess and then expecting others to clean up after them.
However, nature always finds a way. New branches are already growing, regardless of the municipality's plan.
Last week I was in an adventurous mood and before the snow started to fall, I ventured to the woods and saw a few interesting pieces, like this one above for example. There must have been a branch there, but time did some work on it and it looks like its days are numbered.
Same story here. The good thing many don't know about these trees is that these are heaven for insects, insects are necessary for the health of the wood, so it is a cycle.
This is my favorite of all. If you really want to see more than what really is, you can see a heart shape. It's not a regular heart shape, but it can be if you really want it to be. I was wondering how many years needed for that thick outer layer to form.
I can hardly wait for the tiny little green leaves to appear in spring. Each season has its own beauty and after three months of boring gray, seeing nature waking up would be a blessing. Till then, I get to discover these artworks.
a good photo session, plants are impressive beings that can recover from wounds and mutilations that for the creatures of the animal kingdom could be fatal, seeing certain angles in your photos makes me think that perhaps those mutilations could be painful for them, the sap well it could be a trace of bleeding, in other angles you can see how the tree covers its mutilation as if it were scarred, well for a reason we share 65% of our genes with them, in short, your session was very beautiful, the last photo it makes me think of a haunted forest lol
We agree on how amazing nature is and how these trees can recover. Imagine their branches are cut every year in cities as that's what always happens. These trees live up to a hundred years in some cases and how many trauma they have to suffer during their lifetime.
I knew the last photo may be interesting for many and it's also interesting to see the reasons.

It's true. If you only photograph cut off branches you can never run out of subjects. There are so many interesting things t photograph.
The last one reminds me of "The Lord Of the Rings"
It's interesting, we all see what we want and we often see different things looking at the same photo.
I share your thoughts on this, and I also enjoy taking photos to the trees. I just mentioned this to someone through a comment, few days ago.

.... I can see myself together with my cousin and another 4 5 children running after butterflies. It feels like yesterday! And I just realize I dont have any photos of that, I didnt have a phone back there! LOL I was in 6th grade, I think...:d
Now kids have phones since forever....:D
Insectarium? Now that you mention it, I remember someone had it back then, but can't remember if it was my cousin or brother. It was a wooden box with sliding glass top. I know my cousin had one, our grandfather helped her to catch butterflies. Those were the times ... 🙂 Kids today have no idea how fun that was.

In fact, it is a marvel of beauty, as we see how many features and depths a tree has. I myself am very fond of these things and love nature as you can see my post. I also make post about many trees and nature. Your post is very beautiful and wonderful which I really liked and also very interesting.
I'm trying observe and see, not just rush through the day. There are so many things to capture and share.

Unfortunately it's true. I can't really complain as compared to other cities around the world I am fine but other cities are in a terrible position and I don't see things getting better.
Look at Asians, wearing mask for a long time and not for covid, but to protect themselves against pollution.
Disadvantage of civilisation right there…
Well, I would not necessarily call it like that as some countries have been able to do both, civilization and preserve nature as well.

Lol, it happens during winter, we had some low temperatures lately, -13°C and snow.
When I look at its trunk, I look like a mulberry tree, but the way it heals the wound is admirable.
I've seen similar shapes on mulberry trees before.
I even kept silkworms for a while, I needed mulberry leaves every day for silkworms.
I know mulberry tree ad my dad has one but this is not that. It may look like that though.

Interesting discovery. The relevance of nature cannot be overemphasised. I hope we can cultivate the habit of preserving them and not look at them as hindrances.
