This post is going to feature A LOT of photos...
Monte Palace was a place on my bucket list in Madeira and I looked forward to visiting it. It is located in the capital Funchal but more of in the upper levels of the capital, higher up in the mountains. Recently I did a post about a cable car ride and this cable car end point is right where the Monte Palace tropical gardens are so it's a convenient way to go.
Monte Palace features a huge variety of tropical plants from all over the world and also some museums.
Right outside the gate is an olive tree which is more than 1000 years old, it's ancient.
The first views inside the gardens.
We didn't have a whole day to explore this place so we tried to walk through it quickly, but the place is absolutely huge. Near the entrance is a museum that showcases different mineral deposits found in the ground.
The garden also has many different animals. Here are some fish. You can also see many water birds that live in the ponds of this garden.
I don't know exactly what this is.
Some cool pathways.
The location you see below is a central garden with a beautiful big pond.
Want to walk behind a waterfall? No problem.
Is this for uh... dog?
In the center of the garden, there is also some kind of a mansion. Maybe someone lives there or some events are held inside sometimes.
Is this Japanese? Chances are that it isn't but I'm not too familiar with Asian cultures.
A great place to have a photo of yourself. I don't have photos taken of myself very often but I had to have this one.
The variety of palm trees in this garden is one of a kind on its own already.
Dragon trees are so cool!
That was the side of this garden. We were also able to see a very famous activity that is on a bucket list for many people visiting Madeira. They will sled you down the hills with this... thing. We didn't do it but it would have been an interesting experience.
That was only half the photos of this garden I uploaded here. If I were to upload all the photos it would have been too many. It sure was a great and beautiful place to visit and see so many different plants in one place.
That was basically the last post on Madeira Island I have. The next day we boarded a ship and went to another very small island named Porto Santo which is part of the Madeira archipelago. There we spent the last couple of days of our travels. More on this soon!
Don't forget to participate in my monthly weather guessing game here and you might win 10 HIVE. The game is open until the 17th of May.
I knew Madeira is a beautiful place, but judging from your photos, it is Paradise. I hope to visit one day.
It is beautiful, so many places to see. Definitely worth a visit!
Too bad you didn't have more time there, it seems like it would take a good week to explore properly. I'm glad you got to see it, though :)

We still spent a couple of hours in this garden though there were more trails to explore. The place was closing, thats why we were short on time.
Maybe next time :) ...

What a bizarre place 😂 First you think it's Chinese garden, then you scroll down and change your opinion to Japanese, then you continue and it could be Colonial as well 😁 But it all looks lush and fresh, very nice..
Oh, when you said many photos I thought it would be going something like 50 😁
Haha yeah, the only thing certain is that its Asian 😂. Though the plants were from all over the world.
Yeah, I decided to include less than I actually planned. I would have been able to easily include 15-20 more 😀.
I would take a lot of photos in the Asian garden. hehe! I like the zen garden.
I did too, much more than you see here on this post. What a nice place.
Those gardens are beautiful. I love that huge pond. That sled ride looks like a ton of fun as well.
The pond area was to coolest place in the garden, so nice.
I bet that the sled ride would be fun. They ended the rides for the day unfortunately and we didnt make it to experience this.
What a beautiful place! It looks peaceful.
Its it quite peaceful. Except some places with many people 😀
I never made it to that site when we went to Madeira. It looks incredible though. I missed out. Great photos 👍
This is sure worth a visit when in Madeira already. Much to see, Hope you can go if you ever go back to this island.
