Re-Electrify the power plant - Light Painting at an abandoned Military Base
As it seemed the hive really liked these old electric Fuse-Boxes last time. So here I share a few more images of that.
All photos were taken at the Schoenwalde abandoned airfield just outside of Berlin I shared some images before. I am sure you've seen some of these in my blog. To meet up with a bunch of Light Painters is always super cool. To see what these guys are doing check out @stepko,@lichtkunstfoto, and @candelart.

All diese coolen Light Paintings wurden auf dem dem verlassenen Flugplatz Schönwalde nord-westlich gleich außerhalb von Berlin aufgenommen. Dabei waren noch in paar andere Light Painter, wenn es inspiriert schaut auch mal bei @stepko, @lichtkunstfoto und @candelart vorbei.

Camera Rotation Light Painting?
The twisted Checkerboard
When one looks not too close all you see are a lot of squares. Depending on how you put the light on it provides a lot of contrast and nice texture. Spinning it for a camera rotation makes it even more interesting.
For this shot, I used orange and blue because these colors are complementary and always go together. I put the blue always on the center corner which the camera rotated around. The outer image is got orange from a nice low angle.
Das verdrehte Schachbrett
Wenn man nicht zu genau hinschaut, sieht man nur viele Quadrate. Je nachdem, wie das Licht drauf scheint, bietet es viel Kontrast und eine schöne Textur. Mit na Kameradrehung macht es die Sache noch interessanter.
Für diese Aufnahme habe ich Orange und Blau verwendet, passen ja super zusammen und sind perfekt komplementär. Ich habe das Blau immer auf die mittlere Ecke gesetzt, um die sich die Kamera dreht. Den äußeren Bereich habe ich mit ornage ausgeleuchtet.
What were the settings?
What you see is a featured Light Painting is a 135 second single exposure time photograph. The camera was always set to ISO 100 and the Lens to F11.
Was Ihr als Cover Light Painting seht ist eine einzel Aufnahme mit 135s Belichtungszeit. Die Kamera war auf ISO 100 und das Objektiv auf F11.

Die coolen SNV Kästen, wie Sven so schön bemerkt hat. Hier nur mal in Orange als Basistest.
The Power Plant.
This military base with the airfield also had its own little powerplant. That's where I found the switch fuse boards on the wall right when I came in. Here you see it from the outside. During my second visit, I got the drone out and flew over the entire area. Have a look at it in the link below. The cool thing was that the chimney was always a great reference point when exploring the property.
Das Kraftwerk
Dieser Militärstützpunkt mit dem Flugplatz hatte auch ein eigenes kleines Kraftwerk. Da habe ich gleich beim reinkommen die Elektrokasten an der Wand gefunden. Bei meinem zweiten Besuch holte ich dann auch meine Drohne raus und flog über das gesamte Areal. Schaut das Video aus meinem anderen Beitrag an (Link unten). Das Coole war, dass der Schornstein immer ein toller Bezugspunkt war, wenn man das Anwesen erkundete..

When night falls.
The spot
That huge black area in the image here is literally the entrance. That's where we came in. One step in and just to the left we found the switch boards and fuse boxes open and ripped to pieces. Fun fact: all the wires were still aluminum. So that's pre copper times when East Germany was saving hard money and had to go cheaper with making wires with aluminum cores. Still works I guess
Die Wahl der Lokation
Was Ihr hier seht, ist buchstäblich der Eingang. Das schwarze Nichts, da kamen wir rein. Einen Schritt hinein, und gleich links fanden wir die Schalttafeln und Sicherungskästen offen und in Stücke gerissen. Fun Fact: Alle Drähte waren noch aus Aluminium. Das ist also die Vorkupferzeit, als Ostdeutschland Faluta sparte und Kabeln mit Alu billiger waren.

Just some Impressions to finish off.
Both times we visited the property we arrived early enough to explore during daylight conditions. This is important to be safe later when night falls. Important is to see what you going to shoot at night so you know what the area is like. If any dangerous objects are going to be in the way.
Noch in paar Eindrücke
Beide Male, als wir das Anwesen besuchten, kamen wir früh genug an, um es bei Tageslicht zu erkunden. Dies ist ein wichtiger Sicherheitsaspekt, bei Einbruch der Dunkelheit. Mann sollte alles schon mal gesehen haben bevor man nachts fotografieren geht. Wenn was gefährliches rumliegt sollte man es vorher sehen.
