Lots of people have been into whale watching, bird watching or even star gazing, but have you ever done some sunset watching? Have you experience being bathe in a golden color or reddish orange that seems to blind you for a while? I might say, sunset watching could be such an interesting past time, you know, when you just loaf and watch the world goes by, while giving yourself to have the luxury of time to relax and be awed by the aesthetic beauty of a blazing sunset.

Sometimes, I just can’t help but wonder if across the vast ocean, there’s also someone sitting on a boulevard or a fallen trunk of a tree, watching the same sunset like me. I really wonder what makes the color of the skies, reddish orange, or blazing red, even a tint of blue, yellow and purple. Such kaleidoscope images of the skies naturally add a magical aura to the sunset. For me, the it display the splendour of the sun, heralding its mystical passing and its awakening in another part of the world. Across the vast ocean, golden waves are reflected in such a beautiful array touching the seashore with its golden fingers, making the golden sands glimmers incessantly till the velvety darkness claims its rightful place.

Everytime I will be watching a stunning sunset, it never fails to awe me and to give me a sense of mystery. Usually, I stayed until the last ray of the sun fades in the west, or the blazing disk will be swallowed in the horizon and the earth covered in a blanket of darkness The different shades of colors displayed in the cloudless sky attracts anyone who had the time to just look at the western horizon. The sunset to us here, is liken to the mystical appearing of the dazzling Northern lights.

Being a hopeless romantic

To some, the sunset is a symbol of death, and the sunrise, a symbol of rebirth, to each his own interpretation and symbolism. Perhaps, I am a hopeless romantic, taking the trivial things into something aesthetic, even then, I still say that sunsets do captivate me. There is something in sunsets or the way it just touches the heart which makes life a little bit bearable knowing that in its passing, will come a new dawn, a new beginning.

I don’t know if you share the same sentiments that I have, or you might find me quite weird or a sissy so to say. There’s lot of things to write about, things that are worth your while, posts that soothes the soul or even touches the heart. But sunsets? Naah, who cares? Yet, why I still write about it? What’s the catch? Nothing! But I guess, I learned that in this community, you can share what you are passionate about, and you’re right! I am fascinated by lots of small things that we tend to take for granted, especially sunsets and sunrises.

It meant so many things to me, watching the sunset had been part of my system, my being natural. Yes, I could be a hopeless romantic then, but this one thing I knew, watching the sun goes down reminds me of being human, of being vulnerable, of being a mortal with a promise of a new dawn, a new sunrise… a new day! Sunset do reminds me, not of death or a passing away, it reminds me … of hope! What say you? I hope that one day too, you’ll find yourself facing and watching a most beautiful sunset, a sunset that not only touches your heart, but gives light to your own troubled soul. So as the sun part ways from us today, never forget, tomorrow will be another day … a promise of a beautiful sunset! Take time to watch it.

Life is beautiful. Live your life to the fullest. Carpe Diem!
