Biggest Art Steal

Blooms Butterflies Birds

Original author of the quote "Maybe the reason I love animals so much, is because the only time they have broken my heart is when theirs has stopped beating" is not definitively known.

Winter photography opportunities ambling, mulling over what's been happening, only time I find concentrating on something else gives a reprieve from life itself. Seasonal change is the author through natures blooms, butterflies and birds.

Currently a chilly breeze blows through with gentle rain, one day off from normal dry winter bright sunshine, plants get a gentle wash from dust and dander floating about. I fed the birds who arrived as usual the weavers and sparrows.

Hidden under Croton leaf with veins in the sunlight during the week waiting and watching under dappled beautiful lighting thrown across it's wings looking transparent in spots. Butterflies use leaves when windy conditions arrive or it rains.

Approaching this plant dance of butterflies happens with many appears as you walk past, as if we disturbing them.

Not all butterflies arrive on colourful wings which makes me think this is the Dead-leaf Commodore (Precis tugela) since they would not be so noticeable if they did not move when we pass by.

Time made available daily to walk outdoors camera in hand a strong draw card ritual undertaken at different times, a must for well being.

Amazed at the variety and number of butterflies that come and go during our cooler months along our coast, ever changing they take your breath away each time.

Brown Pansy flower, no it's the butterfly aka Brown Pansy enjoying time on the soil perhaps nutrients in the soil it enjoys a sight I have noted over the years with this butterfly.

I haven't seen the tell tale signs of the Hawk Moth caterpillars on my Arum Lily eating leaves, perhaps not this year. I never cut flowers in the garden for vase in the home, leave them for night pollinating moths or bats, perhaps some small birds I am not yet aware of.

Jade (Crassula ovata) stunning in beauty, waxy two tone leaves, tiny flowers attracting many insects right now.

Stralitzia aka Bird of Paradiseflowering under the mid-winter brings another enticing flower for sunbirds, bees and butterflies to enjoy with Golden Shower hanging between the trees or through tall standing cactus along a wall for protection.

Pentas Graffiti Pink is a variety of Pentas lanceolata, in pink, star-shaped flowers, found in KZN, South Africa although not native to the country thrives feeding Sunbirds attracting butterflies and other insects, a pleasure to have around outdoors.

Nature is always surprising, whether it's the colours of butterflies or flowers, their shapes and scents. It's incredible how many butterflies there are in winter and how they hide and shelter under the leaves; I've seen it myself. I agree that jade has an unparalleled beauty with those little flowers, and I love watching the birds drinking water; they're so cute.

The moon behind the trees speaks of the hope that human beings will always take care of beautiful nature. May it be so. I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. Hugs.

As always, beautiful photos. I really liked the birds that swim.

Birds love this spot, food and water available, also love watching them bath with rocks for them and a tree close to hand to preen and clean themselves.

You have always capture butterflies so well Joan. Here I don't see that many and darn they are hard to capture!

Stealth mode for butterflies they sure are shy!

You and you're beautiful surrounding. You always have a way to make those creature looks amazing the way you capture them🥰.

Your winter season has brought so many beautiful creatures to the area, and you have found them well. I love that bird of paradise plant. I so wish I could grow them here. I tried once but they never flowered for me. Beautiful images, Joan.

Some plants thrive over here, many you grow would not survive here that are beautiful. How are the butterflies this year?

Yea, our plants would not like your intense heat. There are so few butterflies this year and I'm concerned as I always have a lot of them and so many varieties. Also, not so many bees either. It is as strange as this odd weather pattern. I hope you are having nicer weather now that you went into winter mode. ♥
