A few hours in Heraklion [Part 2]

As I mentioned in yesterday's post here i could only include some of the images through the actifit app, so I decided to make a part two of my short walk in the city.

I always take many images when I am out, especially when I am alone.
Actually I prefer being alone when I walk.

I often stop and take images every few minutes. Most of the people who are usually with me are bored or too impatient, so I rather leave them where they are and I simply walk on my own.

My walk usually starts and ends at the port, because the place I park my car is very close.

Also every road from there leads to the city center.

Something I really enjoy is taking images of doors and their details.
Who knows, maybe I can make a photo album one day with doors...

This is such a beautiful neoclassical building that is now being used as a dancing lessons. I always thought it would be very interesting if we could dig the story about who had this and I am so happy that it has been restored and used!

And here is a building that is forgotten and abandoned.. you see the surrounding of the door that is in a very old building that will probably never be restored. All memories that may still live in there will most probably be demolished and any beautiful element left will be disappeared..

As I continue my walk again, I come near the sea

Pigeons around and a calm see, is always ready to host the few brave people from the city that dare to swim in the city's sea waters.
They are supposed to be clean, but to be honest, I am not sure I would ever do that.

The building that you see is the Natural History Museum of Crete. In the old years, it used to be the electricity factory of the city.

An empty bench and one with a man sitting there.
You cant imagine how lovely I feel when I see people simply sitting and enjoying the view .. no mobile looking, just enjoying the moment.

Persons of this age are not used to almost always have the mobile in hand and always looking the time, or anything else..

I hope that it gets fixed soon, this is another lovely place to sit.

The past few months there are many many problems of garbage and water and other issues in the city, they say it is due to the lack of interest from the municipality. Unfortunately it is evident in many spots :( I hope that this will change, we need to love and respect the place we live and grow..

A few more minutes and I am at the port again.
(Oh, I cant believe that I did not straighten this photo .. so sorry for this!)

I am ready say goodbye to this city once more, till we meet again!
Hopefully with nice weather and a bit more time.
