Mid-October monochromes!

What’s up, Hive? Just another day, grinding through this life here as Minnesota enters the endless winter. I love fall. It’s my favorite season, by far, but after 10 days in Los Angeles, I admit, I’m having to adjust to blankets and keeping the thermostat much higher than when I left at the beginning of the month. With LA now behind me, I’m anticipating a sedentary transition in to winter. The only travel I have planned is an overnight trip to Chicago with @tarotbyfergus for his first death match wrestling tournament. That, I’m looking forward to and has kind of inspired the first photo in tonight’s blog post.

Once or twice a month, I share a series of black and white photos, newly edited from the previous color work. This first one is of @tarotbyfergus, shot at @mada’s home in uptown Minneapolis while we were working on a paranormal ghost hunting collaboration called the @axiomproject with @iamredbar and @vermillionfox. The project never really went anywhere beyond our first pilot footage. Had we all known COVID and riots were right around the corner, maybe there would have been a little more urgency, but at least we got a few promotional photos.

This second shot is from New Zealand. I shot this in Christchurch in 2019. It was one of my last big trips of for a while other than visiting @roadscape in early 2020. I remember feeling that my career was at its most unsustainable during this tour. A week in Auckland, then Christchurch, then Melbourne. In that 11 days or so, I traveled thousands of miles and did almost two dozen shoots. This shot, however, is one that I would consider it all worth it. One of my favorite photos of my career and one that serves as the culmination of such great personal sacrifice.

Lastly, another shot from 2019, this time in Seattle, WA. I’d never been there and I booked a few shoots in a new city; one that I’d never shot in. My friend Jordan had moved there from Boston and said he could put me up for a week. It gave me a the opportunity to meet up with my long time friend, Kaio Wilker. A Brazilian male model that looks strikingly to James Dean and a total sweetheart. We’d shot together in Boston years earlier and this was our opportunity to collaborate after so much time. I love this shot as a monochrome so much!

Oh these are beautiful shots OwO I love the lady being reflected!

Thank you, @bananzell! Yes, the reflection shot is one of my all time favorites!

I am trying to prepare myself for the deathmatch tournament...
It is in vain, but I must try.

@tarotbyfergus, when the first light tube explosion happens, you'll know how the rest of the night is going to go. You're going to love it. It's an unforgettable experience.
