Here in Florida, it's prime nesting season for many of the migratory birds and locals. Here's more pics from my trip to the local Rookery, and a video compilation.
This group of pics will focus on the Great Egrets. Very plentiful here, and lovely to watch.
And I decided to test out the video capabilities of my camera for the first time. This was one of the main reasons I chose the camera that I did, yet the first time I've tried using video with it for wildlife. I am super stoked at how the video came out. These video shots were all taken with a 200-600mm lens. If you're familiar with camera usage, you'll know how hard it is to hold a camera and lens like that steady. For these shots, I was using a monopod to help hold. Between that and the camera stabilization, they came out pretty well. I can't wait to try again, but will likely try tripod next time for even more stable shots.
Here's the link to video. It includes several other species as well that I snagged with quick videos.
All shots original work copyright by the author of this post.
Shot with Sony A7 R4, with Sony 200-600mm lens on monopod.
Good night my brother ♥️
In my place there are also lots of egrets, especially during the rice planting season.
But I really enjoy your photography, it is very beautiful and detailed, it is really amazing, have a nice day my brother.

Thank you! I can't keep up with your volume, but appreciate the comments! Can't wait to retire and do this more often.
You are absolutely right, enjoying retirement by doing our hobbies is really fun.
This species of egret is new to me, you took some beautiful shots, the video is also amazing.
Thanks, so many birds here that are new to me. Exciting for all the photo opportunities and just enjoy seeing them.
Wow it's a beautiful shot
Thank you! I like it too.
Very nice, it's always nice to see those birds nesting, at least they still have some place where to stay
Where is he doing in first 2 pictures with the neck?
The neck postures are just the beginning of their mating ritual. They raise and lower their necks, pumping up and down and then they spread those fan feathers out even further like a puffball. I was hoping to catch that on video, but just a week or two early I think. I won't be able to go back for another week or two, so hope I don't miss it this year and can catch it on video.
Ah that would be nice if you could get in time to catch it, I was suspecting it was something to attract females 😅
Those wispy feathers are just amazing. Very pretty and graceful. You captured them well!
Thanks, it was a great day for sure. Several more sets to come.
