Hi all 👋🏻
Let’s update you on PART 5.1 from 11 today, our adventure to our new home 🏡 and country 🗺️
I divided this next part of our journey into smaller parts as I have so much to show you along the way 😉 it was pretty cool…
These 11 parts will be about our move “driving” ourselves to our new COUNTRY 😊 of residence. Some parts will include some subtle hints, via text or photo 😅😉 so pay attention and see if you can guess where we are heading for!

Today’s selection will be of 61 photographs.

The Photographs in this post are all taken with my iPhone by me 📱🤓 and a few by hubby… when I was driving 🚗 we do share each journey/ part, as the trip is toooo long for just one person to drive 😁
As I did in the last 4 parts to know how many kilometres we will drive in total. I take again a photo from the dashboard and will do so every part of the journey.
We start today at : 127.911 km
Here we goooooo 🚗🚗🚗
I am driving the first half today so hubby will show you some photographs 😊
We leave our accommodation in Germany 🇩🇪 and start driving.
The day starts greyish.
We are following signs and will enter many roadwork 🚧 stretches what doesn’t help our journey as we need to catch another ferry ⛴️
Our views… windmills and road works. Not much else for the first part next to motorways and lots… lots of cars and trucks.
Our journey is long like the others…
We pass by big cities in #Germany 🇩🇪
At our lunch stop around 1300h I take a photo of the road side restaurants and shops interior.
We had a good break and replenished our energy for the road and hubby will drive further so more photographs now from me 😁

The roads are long and we still follow the signs for the big cities 🏙️
Hahaha I had to photographs the back of this truck… would there be a rhino 🦏 in. Or maybe our belongings going also our way.
The movers said 3 to 6 weeks… so probably not 🚛🚛 🤣😂
Some nice signs showing some interesting places in the neighbourhood.
And one of many traffic jams we ended up in today… sigh ☹️
It is slowly clearing up… we hope 🤞🏻

More roadworks 🚧 ahead of us, what slow us down a lot. Luckily we anticipated them so we have plenty of time to reach our destination for the day 😇
As we pass by #HAMBURG we start seeing cranes 🏗️ from the port.
Like everywhere… 🏗️

Getting close to a large tunnel we go through… under Hamburg 🇩🇪
We picked the ride side… I love the lines…
And we enter 🚗🚗
The lights changed to orange.
It was a very long tunnel, but finally we see light again 😎
More road works and on the other side of the road the traffic has come fully to a standstill… a long traffic jam. We are luckily still driving slowly further.
Even the motor driver is standing still…
It seems to continue and continue… luckily it is not on our side 😊
We go… that way 😁 following green signs.
The roads remain busy… not a fan of it. So luckily hubby is driving 😃
I see another graffiti, this time along the bridge.
So very colourful… I see lettering but because of the sign I can’t make up what it says… 😎🌈
The weather is deteriorating… it gets foggy and the rain 🌧️ is starting…
Traffic is going slowly again…
I so tried to get this mural on the side of the bridge… but my phone sometimes focuses on the wrong things. Hahaha 🤣 the heat spirals in the window don’t help either. Half of the photos I have to remove 🤓
Still though this is a cool photo so I included it 😊

Driving into Kiel, there is a back up at the traffic lights 🚦
A cool text on a little working truck…
We stand still for a long time, still following the sign to the Fähren ⛴️
Entering this large port city 🏙️
Now we see why we didn’t move for a long time. Police cars 🚔 and ambulances 🚑 on the road 🛣️
We passed by an accident… a few cars 🚗 hit each other in a junction ahead. We finally can drive further…
The city revealing itself.
I capture some of the large buildings we see along the way. Love their #architecture.
The rain isn’t making it easy to capture hahaha 🤣

Love the round building. Very cool. It stands out well.

Have a look at the ferry ⛴️ we will be taking next 😳 it is massive. Definitely 10 times as large as the one we had for our crossing from Ireland 🇮🇪 to France 🇫🇷
We drive in for check in… and park the car in the line for cars 🚗
We walk towards the building for check in and receiving our cabin cards / keys 🔑
They have a little Stena Line ferry on display, I capture. So cute 😊
For this post, I leave it hereby… and will post in 5.2 the ferry ride, inside it and our views 🥰
So let’s look at how far we have driven in this part.
The meter says : 128.220 km
What means we have driven 309 km along the road🚗…
Adding the first total we get : 2,362 km in 6 days of driving 😉
The route (ish) we took, we always divert slightly as we adjust to road conditions…

I know. I didn’t even know we would get on such a large ferry. I would have thought it would be like the first one. But boy… this was such an experience 😁😎 it made my day!
I will try to post Monday the views from it during daylight and when we arrive in Gothenburg.
The ferry is largely gorgeous, but I would wish to travel longer in it.
I will be on the look out.
Yes…one day I would like a longer trip with such a large boat too. Like a cruise… never done that before.

You are kind of already doing it, but making a travelling book/log for yourself to relive the memories is awesome! I started doing it when we travelled in Europe, but I stopped, and now I only have the photographs and no story to go with it. Such is life I guess!
Yes, exactly like that. One day I can look back at it. And remember all the little details.

I had to relax a bit today and recharge. The drive yesterday to this accommodation was brutal hahaha ☃️☃️🌨️🌨️
Almost another week has gone by. I hope that you rested enough! This week was and still is somewhat of an admin-nightmare, but we will get trough it!

Time goes so fast… I did rest. We did drive further. Sadly I had no internet for a while to update or answer.
We managed to get Starlink up but it is still patchy due to location of it and weather.
Soon we will fix it.

Oh my another week! I finalised a first draft of my PhD this week, so I am really beyond tired. I hope that you get the internet going! The starlink thing must be interesting to see, if it passes over you at night where you live. I am glad that you did manage to get some rest!

The highways are huge indeed. Sometimes we have traffic jams and wait for hours before we can continue to drive again. It just depends what country one is in.

It is incredible that you were able to see those colorful graffiti, and the rhinoceros inside the truck, the signs on public roads are true works of art
It is incredible to see a structure built out of square, apparently that day the engineer was missing, at least the sign would have been located straight
From what can be seen, they are very concerned about the state of the road, there are many road works
What a pity that it rained on the trip, the routes become dangerous when it rains
Casinos are never lacking in cities, in each one you visit there is one of them
more than three hundred kilometers, that is another great advance.

We did go careful with the rain, especially when the visual got poorly.

I was right about still being in German but now I have to guess where that ferry is going? I'm going with Sweden but don't think that will be your final destination 😉 Interesting the tunnels under cities. This is not very common in the US.

The tunnels are very interesting. Some can be km’s long. I haven’t encountered it really yet in the US.

To be honest, the IKEA signs in the photos are not intentional 🙂 they just happened along the way. As we drove the main roads close to main cities. Not sure how many came by so far. !LOL

Omg this is amazing, the way you approach you moving to another place which isn't easy. My daughter always insist people to do this kind of vlogs instead of be crying all the way. A few had listen and now all settled down, thank her.
