Rila Monastery "St. Ivan of Rila" is among the most important cultural monuments of culture in Bulgaria and Europe. The largest Bulgarian monastery.

This monastery is a magnet for tourists and guests of Rila mountain. It is decorated with unique murals and parking is a challenge even during the week.

The construction of the monastery began in 1335. However, its current face was built in 1864.

It is located in the middle of a unique dense forest in Rila mountain. Two rivers pass near it and you can combine the visit with a makeshift beach. Me and my young son took advantage of the cold river services. It was 35 degrees that day though.
As a person who believes in God, I feel the energy in such places. It's kind of strange here, because walking around its core I felt calmness, peace.

There is not much to say about such places. You just have to experience them live. The family I was walking with was fascinated. They lived in Latvia and had never seen such beautiful architecture.
