Kermit the frog paid us a visit.

in Photography Lovers5 months ago (edited)

Once we found him under the shower mat in the bathroom. He is a toad.

Maybe he wanted a lift somewhere, as today I found him near our car in the garage.

I am happy that I saw him on the garage floor, as if he sat under the car, then he might have been flattened. We have all kinds of nature's residents here, and a friend even protects the area around a 2-meter mole snake. I will ask him to send me a photo to show you. In any case, we are very careful when we go out of the house in the mornings, as one can never know what awaits one outside. Sort of a jungle, or a zoo here, as we are next to a river, and during storms when the river runs wild, the animals and the insects invade the surrounding residences.

Warning!
Beware, not all frogs and toads are harmless, so please make sure that you know the differences by Googling the frogs and toads in your area!

How's this for a one-handed shot, as I saw this Painted Lady landing on a flower at the front garden while holding Kermit gently with my other hand.

Right, now I asked Kermit to hold still in my hand while my wife was trying to remove some growth from his front leg. You can see her fingers plucking the growth in the tag picture.

I think that Kermit was molting, as it was old skin on his leg.

So, I put Kermit back under the Pelargonium plant where he lives.

I felt somebody was watching me with Kermit, and there he was. It was Joe, the Cape Skink lizard.

Hahaha, Joe was scared as he thought that I would also come and pick him up to show him to you. But no, I only winked a good morning and left him alone.

So, it was a reptile morning, and maybe I should place some "NO ENTRY" signs up for the reptiles to read. The signs would have to be in reptile language, and I only know bird language. Maybe someone that reads this post will know reptile language and would tell me how to spell no entry :)
In any case, life goes on here, and our adventures continue. I live in my own world, apart from all of the noise, and nature is my playground. What I have found is that the more I appear in some places, the more nature's residents get used to me, and then they start to show themselves. Wildlife is not stupid, and they know when danger is around. So, I go about easy and slow in a non-threatening manner, and soon they start to talk to me.
Such is life.

I hope that you enjoyed the story and the pictures.

No ability to be your translator, good luck looking....

So true, and we have the habit to look under the car before we pull it out. The good thing is that Kermit and his friends down at the river, croak song us asleep at night !LOLZ

Yep, I am going to struggle to find a translator :)

My brother finds the tree frogs in the door well of his vehicle quite often, we had too many toads when we had the fish pond, when it gave up the ghost I simply said no more....

Amazing how the frogs and toads love vehicles. Maran's aunt was telling us today that during early spring they go to the Flamingo lake to look at the little Terrapins in the foot path puddles after rain. Fishponds can be a lot of work and they also draw mosquitos.

Geckos get into the car here, tree frogs come indoors after rain I think light attracts them.

Would love to see the Terrapins, we had some lovely fish, adopted by local nursery when closing down the pond. Became a nightmare taking toads down to the river before going to work, sure they raced back to greet me in the afternoons on my return.

Maybe the geckos and the frogs want to go and visit their extended families, so they want a lift !LOLZ

I will go and see if I can get terrapins when spring arrives. Your toads remind me of my early school days, as my mom used to walk with me to the school, and when she got back home, I was waiting for her. She solved the problem by taking me to the principal's office every morning.

Nice to hear them serenading in the distance a very different story right outside the bedroom windows. Take note the mother in the home always has to solve the problems although they never entered alone....

you are amazing friend, dare to hold a frog.

Thank you, and I have no fear of reptiles, unless if they are scorpions, or poisonous snakes !LOLZ

Until now I still haven't dared to touch the frog, I can only watch it.

Nice picture.. but I don't dare hold the frog.

The frog is harmless, and in fact he catches the pests in the garden.

Hey @emiliorios, here is a little bit of BEER from @papilloncharity for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that <a href='https://dcity.io/cityyou can use BEER at dCity game to buy cards to rule the world.

Thanks a lot!

I would say this was not a frog but a toad - they are wonderful, stunning creatures! my babygirl is very fond of chasing them, catching and watching, holding in her hands (while I take the pics, hehe). They also have fantastic eyes, good plot for a macro. ☘️ !BEER

Oh yes, I have mentioned in the post that Kermit is a toad, but I used frog in the headline, because many people don't know what a toad is. Glad that your baby girl catches them to pose for you, as I think that it would be good pictures for the people that are scared of toads to see in a post :)

where I live people really stay away from these frogs because they believe they are very poisonous, but seeing you playing with them is really something that changed my perspective about the rumors in our society

Beware, as some frogs and toads are indeed poisonous. What you need to do, is to Google poisonous frogs and toads in your area. Then you will see the harmless ones and the poisonous ones. Most poisonous ones have bright colors. It is important to know the differences.

Thanks very much 🥰

You are good neighbors to all of them! How nice
