Architectural Photography: the super modern Krakow Congress Center

in Photography Lovers3 years ago (edited)

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Most of the Krakow episodes of my architectural photography series were dedicated to the stunning local churches, cathedrals, basilicas and monasteries whose origins date back to long centuries ago and it´s perfectly understandable as the city is known for its remarkably long and rich history.

However, Krakow is also home to one of the most impressive state of the art architectural pieces in the country - the magnificent ICE Krakow Congress Center. Opened as recently as in 2014, this super modern building is one of the most beautiful and acclaimed structures of this kind in the world. Located just outside of the very historic center of the city, a short walk from the iconic Wawel Castle, the Congress Center is a massive architectural complex that consists of a variety of halls and rooms, the biggest of which, known as The Auditorium, has a capacity of up to 2,000 people.

Last week, we had the privilege to visit this impressive building as we went there for the Bomba Megabitowa Festival, a prestigious cultural event held on the occasion of what would be the 100th birthday of Stanislaw Lem, a famous Polish sci-fi writer, philosopher, futurologist and literal critic. The festival was very interesting and I might write another post about it later but for today, let me just show you some of the photos of the super modern ICE Krakow Congress Center that hosted the festival.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures. As you can see, they were taken from both inside and outside as I wanted to give you some perspective of the enormous size and greatness of this architectural complex but I don´t think the photos can really do justice to the actual impressiveness of this place. It´s just too big and intricate and it´s definitely better and greatly recommended to check out this remarkable building for yourself so make sure to stop by whenever you happen to be in Krakow ;)

Thank you so much guys!

It was so fun to see this side of Krakow! What a privilege to go here! such an incredible piece of architecture! I have a hard time placing this place of beauty near Wawel Castle!

Anyway, it looked like a unique place with an amazing layout. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Actually it´s not right next to the castle, it´s rather across the river (which is quite wide in this area) so the modern architecture of the congress center doesn´t disrupt the vibes of the ancient castle ;) I think the architects did a great job with this one.

Thanks for stopping by Denise, have an amazing day :)

Really loved all those concrete-lighting textures with metal glass blend to the architecture.
Looks for a modern-professional usage.
Great shots.👏

Yeah, whoever designed this building was a real pro and did a great job there :) Very appealing, yet highly functional...

Fantastic images. Captured so well.

Thank you!

My pleasure.. I just loved these images.

That is a nice piece of work love it and your photos really bring it out amazingly.

Right. Very different from my previous episodes of the series that featured mostly medieval pieces but this one is also pretty impressive, just in a different way :)

You normally share with us the historical side of Krakow, it nice to see the modern side as well, almost like its two different worlds

Well, the "modern world" of Krakow is definitely much smaller than the "old one" but it´s there too :) Thank you for stopping by and checking out the pictures.

Wow! What a stunning shots you've got there. ^0^

Thank for checking them out, I am really happy about the feedback on this one :)

It is a big and modern buildings. I thought the ellipsis shape in the 7th photo was a mirror 😁

Haha, that´s right :) All the ellipses, lights and colors can easily make for some optical illusions :) I guess it was the purpose too...

Super cool architecture. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you like it. At least next time when HiveFest is again held in Krakow, we know where to host it :D

Those staircases are nuts, look like waves

They do. You kind of feel like Alice in Wonderland there :D

There are lot of amazing designs of buildings there, love those shots. Nice one man

Thanks for checking out the photos and leaving this kind comment, I appreciate it :)

You are welcome

Musím se přiznat, že tenhle typ architektury mi vůbec nic neříká :-)

Thanks for your feedback, really glad you enjoyed the photos :)

Would never have imaged that Krakow looked like this, it looks more like modern Singapore.

I was also surprised to find this super modern design here in this ancient city :) Thanks for your visit man, cheers!

Definitely surprised me to know that they had just beautiful structures in that city.
