World Rally Championship, Acropolis

Day 2 was just amazing. We started our day with an early breakfast and made our way to Lamia to document the start of the rally cars. This should be amazing for footage and photographs since the start will be on gravel and all the rally cars are ready to burst their way to the finish. We had an entire day to prepare, although we were limited to hunting for locations.

Making our way to the rally

Getting to all the locations of the rally isn't always easy, while the Super Stage in Athens was rather easy straightforward, the rest of the rally is located in terrain you usually don't get easily to. This basically means that we also have to walk a few miles, and have to double check how to get there in the first place. Of course, everything is accessible, otherwise, there wouldn't be a place for people to go and watch the rally. Doh.

Our surroundings are just beautiful, so when we had the chance to make a quick piss-stop, I also took the opportunity to take some photographs of where we actually are. Most of the time, we are just driving in the car, and we don't really get to see much of Greece. This has mostly also to do with the amount of adrenaline that we had during the championship. This really kept us focused and got going from A to B.

### Scanning and Scouting the Area Once arrived, we do what we do. We scout and scan the area for potential compositions to capture and document the cars in the best way possible. Of course, I sneaked my way to _the other side_ as I wanted to photograph the crowd and their reactions and expressions during the rally. This would also make up for some nice shots with the car and the audience in the background.

Apparently, I misunderstood what the Stage Manager was talking about when I asked him if I could photograph on the other side of the track. At first, he was a bit skeptical, but it was all good once I showed him my badge. I just had to take a few steps back for my own safety. Which is kind of 'funny', as 20 meters further, there were a bunch of people chilling in some bushes.

Practice time!

Just like the other day, I had a lot of time to practice photographing and analyzing compositions. Which was great as I got to take some pretty cool shots of the rally cars while doing so. Hive Rally Team

Slaven and Damir were getting ready for the start of the race. I rushed over to them to greet them, wish them good luck, and get a portrait of them in the car. I love the way these photographs turned out. Even though these were taken in a split second, it is most definitely worth the wait. I'm glad we got some photographs of our Hive Rally Team, plus Car, and pretty proud of being the guy who took them. Good stuff!

Making our way to the pitstop

Once Slaven was finished and we had our footage, it was ready to get to the pitstop where the car is going to be repaired. This is a very unique moment to be part of, as you can really see the emotion of the team trying to repair and fix the car as good as they can in just 45 minutes.

We really needed to get going. While the Sunset was just amazing, it also meant that we would arrive in complete darkness at the pitstop. Best to prepare the camera for darkness-mode.

It was amazing to see the whole team working their asses off on the car. Even Slaven helped out. The emotions were running high, but they managed to pull it off. It was just amazing to see.

Of course, when the guys were finished, I asked them to take some portraits of them. I only know Giorgio, since he was the guy who gave us our badges on day one. Of course, you guys know Slaven and Damir, the drivers of the car, but showing the mechanics was something I wanted to photograph as well.

It's a wrap for day 2

At this point, it was getting rather late, and we still had to eat and drive back home to make a backup of all the footage and recharge all of the batteries, including our own. We slept for like 3-4 hours every day, which was pretty heavy in the end. But like I said, the adrenaline that we got out of this whole event has kept us going, and we didn't really care we had this less sleep. And of course, we had enough stuff going on while being on the road, so we stayed sharp, focused, and enjoyed ourselves as much as we could.
