Hello everyone!
I left Thailand — my six-month trip has come to an end, and I am returning to Russia. There is a lot of work ahead to return to my beloved Thailand in six months. Both my wife and I were sad to leave this sunny country, but I can only earn money in my homeland. Besides, we already miss our family a lot.
Does this mean that I will publish and take less photos? I don’t think so. Although at first I will have to deal with the things that have accumulated during my long absence.
Today I want to share one very pleasant moment that happened during the flight on the Bangkok-Almaty (Kazakhstan) flight. I always fly this flight with Air Astana. Their slogan is “Travel in Comfort and Style”, and it is completely justified: excellent food to choose from, gifts for children, a friendly atmosphere — all this helps me feel more relaxed during the flight. Air Astana is a Kazakhstani airline, but all the flight attendants speak excellent Russian, which is very important to me.
Everyone knows that I am afraid of flying, and this flight was no exception. I started worrying a few days before the flight, and by the time I boarded the plane, I was already having panic attacks. On takeoff, my blood pressure rose, I started sweating and looked down, praying that everything would go well. I never sit by the window and try not to look out the windows, but this does not help much.
About four hours into the flight, I got the idea to take a photo of the aisle in the plane. Without getting up from my seat, I took a few photos and started looking through them, evaluating the lighting and the possible result.
And suddenly the flight attendant leaned over me and asked an unexpected question:
- I saw that you are a photographer. Could you take a photo of us?
You don’t need to ask me twice, especially if they call me a photographer! Although, if you remember, I've only been shooting for four months and haven't mastered much yet.
- Sure! Do you want a group photo or individual shots?
- Can I have both?
- With pleasure!
At that moment, I completely forgot about my fear! ))
Realizing that there was little light in the cabin, I put on a flash (which, by the way, I used only once) and went to the back of the plane for a group photo. For some reason, the flash refused to work, but I didn't lose my head and said that there was enough light, so we'll do without it. ))
The girls posed enthusiastically, and I took photos in automatic mode, realizing that I didn't have enough experience yet to quickly set the settings manually. And in a stressful situation, I completely forgot how to set them correctly! ))
During the individual shoot, I felt like a real photographer! It was a very fun and positive experience. I probably would never have dared to offer a photo shoot to the flight attendants during the flight, and I am glad that they approached me themselves. Yesterday I sent them the photos and will send a link to this post. Thanks to them for a pleasant flight!
In the next post I will tell you about the two days spent in Kazakhstan before we went to Russia by train.
I write my texts myself, correct mistakes and translate via ChatGPT (which is not a violation on Hive)!
All photos were taken by me personally - I am a beginner photographer, so I ask professionals not to judge strictly.
Thank you for sharing these moments with me! Until new stories and new holidays!

I hate flying too. I get pre-flight anxiety though for the most part. So once I'm on the plane I know there's no going back. You'd think there's more fear in that but in my case it's almost this feeling of knowing I have to face the fear. And once I'm up in the air, that anxiety starts to disappear to the point where I feel completely relaxed, and I'll start looking out of the window.
When it comes to flying, I try to keep myself occupied at first. Grab headphones and have a few episodes of something downloaded on my phone. Total attention on that, so no bumps or little noises that are totally normal are going to make me uncomfortable. The other thing that helps is actually featured in your images! I look around and see how calm everyone else is, especially the workers. They've done it all a hundred times already, and if anyone should have true fear it'd be them given the training they've gone through that basically says to prepare for every possible scenario. So if they're walking around smiling, I am sitting there with nothing to worry about. ;^)
Thanks for this comment. Yes, headphones help me too, they remove sounds and you feel more comfortable. Usually I turn on children's cartoons and watch them the whole flight - this is the best remedy for me))

When I flew to Istanbul in 2023 I was terrified, but I downloaded some episodes of Atlanta and some other shows from Disney+. I remember essentially covering my entire head with a hoodie so I could see nothing but the screen, none of my surroundings. That was for four hours haha.
On my flight from Istanbul to Armenia three weeks later, I didn't care so much. I felt more prepared for the two hours. It wasn't that long since the previous flight and I knew what to expect. Still a little nervous, but I calmed down very quickly once the plane was in the air.
I met a Chinese guy in my hostel in Istanbul that sent me pirated films with Chinese subtitles hardcoded for my flight. A nice gesture from him, but Mission Impossible's all-out action did NOT calm me down pre-flight at the airport. :D
You and I have the same nature of fear )))
I hope you are okay during the earthquake. Good luck on your journey back to your hometown. I still appreciate people like you who can have a vacation for six months without worrying about the expenses and how to live in another country. I'm so proud of you!
Thank you 🙏
We flew out one day before this terrible event, but the city of Pattaya, where I lived, did not feel the earthquake at all - I sympathize with everyone who suffered from this natural disaster.
