Mariachi music is Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Although it is not well received by everyone, I believe this is because the musical themes are no longer in tune with the new generations, the large size of the group can generate a fairly high volume and disturb people, or it may simply be perceived by many as alien to their culture. But there is no doubt that it is very emotive to hear a group performing this music to a high standard. The singer seems to live what he sings, as if he had written the songs he performs, which are usually classics by world-class artists. At several events I have attended, I have been lucky enough to see groups of this genre and I have always enjoyed them, even though they have nothing to do with the type of music I normally listen to.
