Intro

On the third day of my trip to Tyrol I decided to go to Innsbruck. At the level of my accommodation I was in the middle of the clouds and great photos were out of the question here. So my destination, the Alpenzoo, was quickly identified and I was on my way there.

Am dritten Tag meiner Reise nach Tirol beschloss ich nach Innsbruck zu fahren. Auf Höhe meiner Unterkunft war ich mitten in den Wolken und an großartige Fotos war hier nicht zu denken. Also war mein Ziel, der Alpenzoo, schnell ausgemacht und ich war unterwegs dorthin.

The zoo is located on the outskirts of Innsbruck, high above the city. And off we go with the native animals that can only rarely be photographed in nature.

Der Zoo liegt am Stadtrand von Innsbruck, hoch über der Stadt. Und los gehts mit den einheimischen Tieren die sich nur selten in der Natur ablichten lassen.

Frogs and mice up close, you know that and are less surprised at first.

Frösche und Mäuse ganz nah, das kennt man und erstaunt erst einmal weniger.

I didn't remember the names of the animals, I was more interested in the overall impression the zoo made on me.

Die Namen der Tiere habe ich mir nicht gemerkt, ich war mehr an dem gesamten Eindruck, den der Zoo auf mich macht interessiert.

The large aquariums, and by large I mean really large, are something very special. A wide variety of fish, from very small to large, cavort here in a very natural tank.

Die großen Aquarien, und mit groß meine ich wirklich groß, sind dann aber schon etwas ganz besonderes. Hier tummeln sich verschiedenste Fische von ganz klein bis groß in einem sehr natürlich gehaltenen Becken.

Of course there are birds too. If they stand around like that, they make quite a good photo motif.

Vögel gibt es natürlich auch. Wenn sie so rumstehen machen sie sich ganz gut als Fotomotiv.

With the reptiles you have to wait a few minutes until you see something. Then the wonderfully beautiful little snake here moved very elegantly over the log.

Bei den Reptilien muß man dann aber schon mal ein paar Minuten warten bis man etwas zu Gesicht bekommt. Die wunderbare schöne kleine Schlange hier hat sich aber dann doch noch ganz elegant über den Holzstamm bewegt.
