Prague Metro Project - Line B - Smíchovské nádraží (CZ)

All week I planned to buy new hiking boots and then go out into nature. When I saw today's rainy weather in Prague. Instead of a trip to nature, I decided to continue with the Metro project. Although I will not continue on line C, I will introduce you to the first station on line B. So today we will look at one of the most complex stations in Prague in terms of the number of exits.

Celý týden jsem plánoval nákup nových bot na turistiku a poté vyrazit do přírody. Když jsem viděl dnešní deštivé počasí v Praze. Rozhodl jsem se místo výletu do přírody, pokračovat v Metro projektu. Sice nebudu pokračovat v lince C, ale představím Vám první stanici na lince B. Dnes se tedy podíváme do jedné z nejkomplexnějších stanic v Praze co se týče počtu východů.

The Smíchovské nádraží station is excavated, founded in a construction pit with anchored underground and piled walls. It is a two-story, monolithic, reinforced concrete structure. It was opened on November 2, 1985 and was the terminus until 1988.

Stanice Smíchovské nádraží je hloubená, založená ve stavební jámě kotvenými podzemními a pilotovanými stěnami. Je dvoupodlažní, monolitické, železobetonové konstrukce. Otevřena byla 2. listopadu 1985 a do roku 1988 byla stanicí konečnou.

The station was designed by the company Metroprojekt and the main architect was Josef David. The station has many exits, for example to the Smíchovské nádraží station building, to two bus terminals, or to the tram station. One of the exits even looks like an entrance to a cave.

Stanici projektovala firma Metroprojekt a hlavním architektem byl Josef David. Stanice má mnoho výstupů například do nádražní budovy Smíchovské nádraží, na dva autobusové terminály, nebo tramvajovou stanici. Jeden z výstupů dokonce vypadá jako vstup do jeskyně.

Structured concrete and beige ceramic tiles were used as cladding. The station even starred in several films, unfortunately I can't find information in which films exactly it was. In one film, the station played a fictional Berlin in the 1950s after Germany had won the war.

Jako obklad byl použit strukturovaný beton a béžové keramické desky. Stanice se dokonce zahrála v několika filmech, bohužel nemohu najít informace ve kterých filmech to přesně bylo. V jednom filmu stanice hrála fiktivní Berlín 50. let 20. století poté co Německo vyhrálo válku.

And that was a small presentation of the Prague Metro Smíchovské nádraží station. Next time we will look at Radlická station on the same route B.
