A random walk through the woods.
Always some interesting patterns to be found in the fungi.
Different looks from different angles change the picture.
Zoomed out. Leaves and fungi.
I'm not great at fungi identification but I think this is false turkeytail.
I like the way it blends with the brown and orange leaves.
Lots of shelf mushrooms in the Vermont forests.
Different colors and patterns keep it interesting.
Then there are the odd ball sights like this fallen over stump covered in moss.
Or the mix of colors and textures and shapes presented by the bottom of this fallen over tree.
The soil is very rocky in my part of Vermont and when trees fall over they often pull some rocks up with them.
Root patterns are also revealed. They say there is as much of a tree underground as above but we seldom get to peek under the ground.

Mushrooms are coming))
Yes. These are mostly hardy mushrooms that survive through the winter but the spring will bring many more.
I think for some trees there can be up to three times as much underground as above! I don't know for sure though, this is only something I've heard.
Thanks for sharing the colours of this place, I enjoyed it 😄
Thanks 🙏🙏 Nice to find some colors in winter but I can't wait for spring.
