a nice sunrise at Fort Phoenix

A nice sunrise at Fort Phoenix

Good morning, I hope life is treating you well

For todays post I am sharing a few shots I took on an early morning visit to the Fort Phoenix State Reservation in Fairhaven, a neighboring city to where I live in New Bedford

I visit there maybe once a month or so its a nice spot and even though not a huge park its big enough for me to walk back and forth between photos and get my steps in for the day.

Now I am not a warmonger, in fact the opposite but when ever i visit this park the first spot I walkup to is by the cannons

people of all ages I am sure love Fort Phoenix for its mix of history, beauty, and fun outdoor activity options . especially in summer to spend sunny days on the beach.

Beyond the beach, enjoy Fort Phoenix’s grassy park, which is a great place for a waterfront picnic on a warm evening. But the real draw here is historic Fort Phoenix, managed by the town of Fairhaven. This was the site of the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War. Today, it’s a popular destination for local history buffs.

The hurricane barrier that stretches across New Bedford Harbor is another unique feature at Fort Phoenix to discover. Separating the inner harbor from Buzzards Bay’s open waters, this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers structure is a popular place to take a leisurely stroll. Walk or bike along the half-mile paved walkway and enjoy unique views as boats motor past.

these shots are from a couple of visits there, hence the mix of some dark moody skies and some more clear and colorful skies

and then I end up back by the cannons as they are near where my car is parked

The colours are amazing. I guess you did a bit of editting there, didn't you?

Yes I shoot in RAW mode in my camera which means the camera doe sno editing, so I edit all my photos :)

Beautiful shots as always! I think my favorite is the one with the tree in it. What a beautiful place to sit and watch the sunrise. Just magnificent!

thanks so much I do love that tree I always get shots of it when I visit that park, have a good day and weekend

Great shot of the tree in front of the sunrise 👍 I'm not a warmonger either but one thing about the military they knew where to put the guns for the best views 😂 or I guess they would say field of fire 🙁

thanks and yes very strategically places the sunrise is just a bonus LOL

I really love the photos you shared Sir. For sure, everyone will have a very good morning if you see this kind of view. ❤️🤗 So beautiful and relaxing.

Have a great day

There is an illusion of cloud movement in your photos. How do you do it?

thats because it was quite dark so my camera was on a tripod and they are long exposures which catches the movement in the clouds

It looks like a nice place to visit :)
