Some more shots from Haskell Gardens

Some more shots from Haskell Gardens

Good Morning, today I am sharing a few shots from a walk I took recentky during the day, at the Haskell Gardens , so let me tell you a little about it
For over 30 years, lifelong New Bedford resident Allen C. Haskell cared for this property as a successful nursery. Haskell was so known for his horticultural talents that celebrities like Martha Stewart and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were among his fans. After Haskell’s passing, The Trustees saved the property in 2012 to protect this unique urban garden from development.

Today, the Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens feature six acres of carefully designed gardens, greenhouses, and one of the oldest houses in New Bedford, all arranged around a wide green common space — perfect for a sunlit picnic or to explore with a camera. Pick up some bulbs, plants, and seeds at the visitor’s center, or learn a new gardening skill at one of the horticultural workshops Haskell Gardens hosts throughout the year.

Its a nice spot to visit any time of year, but I tend to visit it mainly in spring as the flowers come out, I have shared a couple of posts of the flowers closer up, for this post i will share more some of the views when visiting the gardens

Starting with the rown of Greenhouses, the real colorful one is at the far end of this shot

Such a pretty place! I wouldn't get to close to that sculpture though, it screams tetanus shot with all that rust!

I loved the line of blue flowers and tulips as well, so pretty. Nice shots you picked up there!

What a beauty brother, it really is a perfect place to visit. I would be very happy there, a single flower delights me, so if I come across several I would spend the whole day in pure visual pleasure. Thanks for sharing, it's my only way to appreciate it 🙏

Your choice of subjects is beautiful. You have a great camera, but when I saw the pictures for the first time I was 100% convinced that these pictures were taken with a smartphone. The color saturation, especially the green, is completely over-the-top, which smartphones often do. Of course, this is also a matter of taste.
With the Sony cameras, you can of course simply influence this via Picture Styles.
No offense intended.
I would like to hear your thoughts.
Best wishes!

Thanks for the feedback i cannot blame the camera or profiles as i shoot in RAW mode and edit myself and perhaps your right sometimes i may overdo the colors especially the greens as you say its a matter of preference and i edit as i like depending what i see on my computer screen maybe the colors on that are not calibrated but i will think about this when i edit tomorrow

Color management and -theory is indeed a difficult matter. There are tons of books and ressources on that matter. Especially important in product photography and reproduction work. You are shooting in RAW, so you have all choices. Actually even professionals are using jpegs in special cases, i.e. event photography or high speed sports shootings. The jpegs of modern cameras are often quite usable except in special almost monochrome lighting situations like in forests under the tree canopy.
All the best!

Yes the odd time I do an event then I shoot in jpeg, such as todays memorial day parade
