Full Moon December - Cold Moon

The moon

It so happened to be that we were going away for the weekend when the full moon was there. I first thought the full moon was a day prior to our last minute weekend away but I was happy to find out that I was wrong and that I'd be able to capture it in another region during the weekend instead.

This is great because I'm surrounded by buildings here and I'd have to get out and higher up to be sure to capture the moon properly sometimes. It depends on the time that I check it as well. Either way, I usually end up checking it and depending on the light polution, I will try to capture it.

Lots of photography moments

Lately I've been holding my camera for several hours a day because of my little start up business and it was really nice to be out for the weekend so that I could capture something different than the products I'm capturing for the business. Nature is so nice to capture, I love capturing flowers for example. They really make me smile when the picture comes out nicely.

But let's check my moon shots from the weekend today as they are a bit different than I expected.

Full moon in Nerja

First up, the evening we were in Nerja for one night, to enjoy a weekend away. While the evening fell, I was deadly excited to try and capture it there because the house was far uphill and I was 99% sure that I'd have a good view from there. Then my camera had some issues with the card, I yet have to order another card (reminder to myself lol) but thankfully my boyfriend quickly fixed it with a little piece of paper. It was meant as a temp fix though but I was very very happy that I could use the camera after all. Here's the best shot:

I was quite pleased with it. I don't know if this one is better or worse than the previous month but I noticed one thing at home the next day.. there was this light bulb around the moon, I edited the picture a bit to remove it as I didn't like it. But the moon is exactly as I captured it.

Granada!

The next day we went to visit our friend in Granada and I was really hoping to see the moon rise from behind the mountains but as our daughter was a hand full (read: 10 hands full, lol) I was quite done with it all and wanted to leave around 6, after all we still had a long drive ahead. We also needed to drop off a Christmas card at another house so it was best to go.

We caught our friends when they were just leaving, which was fine beacuse we didn't mean to visit but just drop it off anyway. When we drove uphill there, we saw the beautiful yellow-ish moon rise and it was mesmerising! Really breathtaking, so nice!

On the spot I thought I shot them very well and it was a disappointment to see at home that they weren't that great after all and had this glow around the moon as well. Oh well, at least I got them on camera with the yellow glow as the moon appeared at that moment.

Back home

The morning after, it was Monday and we were getting ready for school whe my daughter shouted "The moon, mama, look, over there!" when she opened her window. I quickly grabbed the camera as I figured I should capture the moon in daylight as well while it's so clearly in sight.

It wasn't a great picture but not bad either, I was defintely rushed to get her ready for school but it sure beats all these years of capturing the moon with a phone, lol. Next month I will remind myself to double check the picture zoomed in before I decide I have a good shot.

Since the full moon, I've grabbed my winter coat from the storage box and already used it every day. Just in the mornings and evenings though, as we still have sunny afternoons, thankfully.

But they call it the "cold moon" for a reason, winter is defintely here!
