Good afternoon, everyone!
Today I bring you a collection of shots taken next to the the Technical University in Zvolen, a very stylish building surrounded by a small park. There are several trees just outside its front, most of them as tall as the building itself. Some of the trees are so close to the windows that I bet there is a squirrel or two assisting the classes. 🤗
Just outside of the main entrance there's a small leisure area, with a little fountain.
In this place, there are a few seating benches, including one under a small awning for those rainy days. For those who enjoy a little bit of fresh air between the classes, this is a really nice spot. Besides the sound of the water, you can listen to the chirping birds. 🐦
I guess this must be where the smokers usually gather. 🚬
There's also a few spots to lock your bike to, in case you use one. From what I saw, most students used the bus to get there, since the Zvolen Bus Station is a mere 130 meters away. What an incredible location. 🚌
As you can see below, there were some other beautiful sights there... Yeah, I mean the girls. So many of them!!! Here they were going towards the bus stop.
On the back of the main building there was the entrance to the Faculty of Forestry, something I didn't knew it existed. Again, lots and lots of trees surround the walls...
In the middle of the park I found this strange sculpture. When I got closer, I realised it was a sort of memorial to some of the old rectors of the University.
Two names stood out: František Papánek and Adolf Priesol.
According to this page, František Papánek helped setting up the University of Forestry and Wood Technology in Zvolen and he was the head of the Department of Forestry Economy. He was also the Rector from 1950 to 1955.
Adolf Priesol taught Forest Management and was the leader of the Forest Management Department from 1960 to 1980. Afterwards, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry between 1962 and 1964 and also from 1966 to 1971. Last, but not the least, he was the Rector of the Technical University for almost 20 years, from 1971 to 1990. (Info Source: Former Rectors)
Besides that, there was a plaque with an owl, which was the logo of the Faculty of Forestry. I think it makes sense. And it's cute! 🦉
Here is another view of the sculpture....

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour... and in case you are looking for a place to go, as part of the Erasmus program, now you have an extra option.
Zvolen is a small town with very friendly people and lots of historical places and buildings to see. 🏚️
It's also well served of public transportation. Between the bus stop and the train station, you can travel to any other city in Slovakia with ease. The cities of Krakow (Poland) and Budapest (Hungary) can be reached by bus in a couple of hours, with a ticket around 7€.

I'm missing my student days. Thanks for remainding me of those times, @trincowski
I have to be honest, I don't miss my student days very much. Sure, there were some good times but the studying and having exams is something I'm glad it's behind me. 😁
Thanks for your visit and comment!
I didn't like the part with having exams either. 🤣

Is there probably a dress code, @trincowski?
Eehheh! Actually there's one in pants... and a green shirt.
No, there was no dress code, it was simply a really hot day! 😎
