Making Clones

Hello Everyone,

Today I took some clippings from the two female Big Mack Superstar's I'm growing from seed.

45 Degree angle cut beneath node and immediate dip into water is important!

Now the clippings (2 of each plant, 1 rooted of each I'll be keeping) are in their 3D printed net pots and covered with a nice homemade 3D printed humidity dome :D

I'll need to keep them moist and happy. With bad pH in the past I averaged two week rooting and a pretty high failure rate. I'm hoping for 100% success rate this time.

I decided to take more than one clipping to increase my rooting odds but am only keeping one of each rooted clipping to maintain legal compliance, despite the fact that I'd really love to have more cannabis plants and find the legislations to be restrictive and unlawful in nature.

Pre-sex indicator - Pistil

It's best to know for certain the sex of your cannabis when cloning, and in this case I am 100% sure of the sex of both plants, due to the wispy pistils, which can be seen in the photo above.

Pre-sex pistils happen in vegetative stage when the plant is healthy and entering a state of maturity. This is also an indicator that the plant is ready to flower and merely becomes a matter of the growers preferences in how big they want to grow the plant before inducing flowering. Sometimes certain training methods become necessary, as cannabis will get kind of bushy and not want to grow upwards as much.

Taking clippings is the perfect time to employ some training.

Some growers like to keep their plant bushy because of the stored nutrients in the foliage, and I agree with this, but I also like easy access to my soil and a good view on the branch network, so I trim up the bottom of the plant during the clipping process and this will force new upward growth, and being that these plants are in rapid growth, it won't take them long to get huge.

At first glance these plants appear to be brutalized, and it all respects they kind of are. Compare them to the intro photos and it is obvious.

Not only did I cut away a lot of foliage, I've become well adept at inflicting breakage of the inner stem fiber structures in a manner that I know to the touch of how far I am taking it.

At this point of explanation it is a little difficult to explain these training methods because it requires a type of relationship with the plant that develops with time and experience. I employed a medium fiber breakage in the stems, and this will promote better bud growth later on, but is also very shocking to the plant. Since I took so much off I decided to not give them my harshest fiber smashing technique, but they'll get more later on anyway.

If nothing goes extremely wrong (like a power outage or major mistake from me) then these plants will still grow to be big, beautiful, and bushy, but with branch structures that are just a little more visible underneath.

And that's all it takes to clone cannabis like a superstar.

I'll be back shortly with a Green Crack update.. Until then,

Have a good day! -@futuremind

Those are great little 3D printed pots. What does the 'netting' do for the plant?

That is a really good intuitive question my friend.

When it comes to cloning with these little net pots, it more about what the pot does for me than for the plant.

The roots will emerge from those holes once they start, and this is the main reason I use them, visual confirmation holes. Saves a little time and effort instead of planting straight into soil. In the event that a clipping doesn't take, it's more work altogether. I'll take pics of the roots emerging from the holes when that time comes!

Net pots are also used in hydroponics, which is where I got the idea for this use.

I'll take pics of the roots emerging from the holes when that time comes!

That would be great to see. I have a hydroponic set up for vegetables, and the little plastic cups that hold the plant do have openings for the roots. 3D printed cups would be awesome. I imagine little ones printed with the designs for different herbs and vegetables so you can tell at a glance what plant you have (plus social-media ready for photography kicks).

I think it's amazing that you have studied the whole structure and form of your plants so that you can effectively regulate just how well to groom them. I'm hoping for a hundred percent success rate like you too. The plants already look beautiful.🌺😄

Thank you kindly my friend.
It's indeed a type of science to emulate a natural environment. I find it to be very rewarding and a surprise that more people don't do the same thing with growing plants indoors. It's a challenge but a challenge of nurturing and attention to detail :)

They are growing well by the looks of it all they are growing well and some of the leaves you cut off were bad.

Thank you kindly bro.

I've never made clones, maybe because it seems difficult and I'm a little afraid to do it wrong, haha, but you make it look like something simple and I congratulate you because they were spectacular, now I'll wait for the clones to grow! greetings and good week!

Thank you friend.
I believe you could make them very easily because you have the green thumb gift.
It's a little scary at first but it's also a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Aku dulu pernah menanam beberapa batang ganja, namun sayangnya di kota ku masih di larang untuk menanam ganja

Jenis hukum ini bukan manusia.

bro great work, here i ahve one BG plant it is the last one because the previous was killed by an unknow; i hope that my BG will be female :D

I hope you get a female!
I was lucky with my last BMS seeds. I had three seeds and two were female. I collected some pollen to make more seeds.
Good luck with your BG bro.

That’s great
Has someone ever told you that you will make a very good farmer?

Thank you my friend!
Sometimes people tell me this yes, I feel like a farmer but like a specialized scientific farmer :D

Darn, I missed the window to vote on this, but this is great timing as I want to take some clones off our female. Are your cuttings what you removed from the centre of the plants, that main stem part?

Our friend gave us two plants and one has bolted into male flower, which apparently shouldn't have happened because they were both supposed to be feminised (I think that we what he said). Now he saying to destroy the make before the female flowers or we'll get seeds, which I actually don't mind because all our seeds got too old. He concerned about it hybridising, though. So I thought maybe I could get a clone going and plant that well away and let the other get pollinated. 🤔

I used to be addicted to the hokey-pokey
but then I turned myself around.
