Funding becomes such a huge issue with projects and then there is no runway to perpetuate it through the bear market if they can't secure enough funding that an important piece becomes where you can get funding but before that it has to be a chain actually capable of what you are doing that won't outgrow what you are doing if the chain gets more clogged up overtime. I have seen so many projects launch on one chain and ultimately have to pivot off of it. Even Defi Kingdoms was on Harmony One which was technologically capable to handling what they were doing but they have to pivot to having their own L1 on Avalanche. Some ecosystems have the capabilities but have become somewhat stagnant. COSMOS has lots of entries and exits but it is complicated and that ecosystem has somewhat stagnated because of the lack of appreciation of the base currency ATOM. The good thing is that a lot of these newer chains have AMM exchanges where the liquidity grows as people buy into it. That has made it easier to catch a bid without being on the centralized exchanges. Also the ones that have passionate built in communities that hopefully have a social media platform built on it. AVAX has the Arena. HIVE is it's own thing. STEEM is it's own thing. ICP has OpenChat.
I see a lot of people in various communities just expecting high level developers to just build something amazing out of nowhere for free and that is a tough ask. I have seen that burn so many devs it is unreal.

I really dislike that ETH really dropped the ball.
There could have been no whisper of a Ethereum killer.

And so, we have all of this power wasted on garbage, because ETH couldn't cut it.
Yeah, it's unfortunate. It has been an important part of crypto but if the right runway would have been created it could have became the world computer like they intended but we get these fracture points and all these competing EVM chains and ICP trying to be the world computer. Impressive tech but some major deficiencies and lacking the user experience people are looking for.
