Achieving a painterly effect for digital painting can be a challenge. It does help if the artist already has knowledge, practice and skill in traditional painting media. However, a digital artist can still observe and imitate the painterly effects of an oil or acrylic painting on canvas with only practice of digital tools such as Photoshop.
In this quick digital art tutorial I'm going to share with you a simple technique with a tool in Photoshop which enables you to make more painterly brush strokes with ease on the digital canvas.
