Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to chat a little bit about why taking breaks is important!

A Little Refresh

We all need a bit of a break from things, even good things!

I've been one to just keep on trudging along with some of the things I do. Not all of it is bad or boring, but when I get into a routine, sometimes I need a bit of a break from that routine to switch things up. One of those breaks came the other day when I just didn't feel like doing much on Hive!

I do love the Hive ecosystem, as it is complex, thrilling, challenging and entertaining all at the same time, and many other aspects. Like any good thing though, there comes a time when you need a little bit of a breather from it otherwise you will get into a difficult spot!

I got into a pretty good rhythm the last few weeks where I was putting out two or three scheduled posts a night. That certainly meant I was doing more work on a daily but it also meant that if I needed to, I could take a break! A break I took.. lol

I try to have a little wiggle room in my scheduled posts, meaning if I get into a mood, I can skip a day or two! I ended up skipping 5 days of writing which is unusual in that it was long, but we weren't on any type of vacation. I was just needing a little bit of a break!

I think it's important recognizing these types of things, and especially where there are a lot of challenges with mental health in the world. I know that mental health issues always existed, because how could they not? There is a big drive, which I personally feel like is partially money-related more than anything, lately for taking care of ones mental health. I think an important part of that is recognizing when we are doing too much of something we enjoy, so that we can cut back!

Fortunately for me, over-consuming my free time with some Hive activities doesn't cause me arthritis or anything crazy like that, just a little extra tiredness. A lot of things in the world though are primed for over-consumption and it's a bad situation to be in, as it is often food related, though these days it's far more electronic device centered to make more advertising money.

I'd love to say that in the break I got more sleep, and did all these great things. No, not really LOL I didn't get much more sleep but I am for sure planning on it tonight. What I mainly did is what I will do sometimes with music or podcasts and just go do other things like cleaning, or housework, and not do the specific thing I am taking a break like Hive writing.

I think just not having time where we focused on something is pretty important in that it helps us give the brain a little bit of a break!

What about you, do you think it's important to take breaks from things in life such as hobbies? Let me know in the comments!

Breaks are definitely important. Especially if you have a full time job. HIVE can tend to take over sometimes and you need to be able to just put it on a shelf every now and then.

Yeah that plus the kiddo it gets to be a lot but I enjoy it for sure. Taking a break helps me stay in the right mindset!

A little bit of break is always good for the brain and our mental well being. Ironically some of the best ideas/thoughts come when I was just chilling out at cafe or doing aimless walks in the city.

Yeah dude that's for sure! It's great when we can let our mind wander. I think that's why I don't mind house chores too much, my mind wanders a lot!
