The perfectionist paradox is a video I stumbled upon that felt like another gentle slap. In a nutshell, it's about a person who attempted to be selfless, perfectionist but in the end, none actually likes the person. It's interesting the way the video puts it but also another great reminder that it's OK to be imperfect and makes mistakes.

Since this is the weekend, I've spent my time a little more less conservative . I find myself listening to podcasts of Andrew Huberman and talks of INTJs. One thing that strikes me the most is this video that basically lays out 12 rules for life INTJ version. Although maybe these days not a lot of people associate themselves with MBTI, I just find myself more drawn to it because it offers more alternative to see myself and perhaps a tool for the answers that I seek in life. Knowing my personal MBTI has helped me a little with navigating people, relationship and even the things that truly suit me based on my personality and what I typically enjoy doing. It's a science woo woo at least 😂

Welcome to my brain dump, it’s morning and when I am able to sit down, sipping a cup of coffee while contemplating about life and emptying it out a little.

The video has something that I've been thinking lately regarding idealism and playing politics when it benefits us. I find myself at crossroad sometimes because I wanted to remain authentic but at the same time being authentic just don't get me anywhere. Strangely enough, in that video there's this advice " Style is the gateway to substance" which said that basically it's paradoxical because Intj is most likely into cold-hearted scheming and evil mastermind but dislike being superficial and playing politics. Then, proceed on advising that sometimes looking the part is important because perception. So, despite having the expertise or knowing a lot but if people don't like the way I came across, that'd be a waste, isn't it?

The video speaks to me on a lot of level and sort of gave direction and hits to make my next move in life. Anyhow, if you're an INTJ, that video is pretty refreshing and entertaining too. I mean, that one also tells us how to human 😂 because that video, I got sidetracked and well, it's time for me to plan and prep for tomorrow!

Sort:

Is MBTI has scientific explanation? Sometimes I don't know if I believe on it or use it as a basis of our "life approach".

Anyway, I respect my friends or people who believe in it. Some of them are INFJ, or...aw I forgot what are some of it haha.

It's a pseudoscience that's why I said " woo woo " science sort of dubious too by standard of empirical science. But it has its own research and was developed by Katharine & Briggs Myers both were influenced by Carl Jung. They even have foundation and research journals too https://www.myersbriggs.org/research-and-library/myers-briggs-research-department/. Some countries are so into this like South Korea for example where it's also common to find their MBTI on public display.

Thanks for the info! I'm always curious if they are accurate but I think as long as you answer the test sincerely it could be.

Still a better explanation for why people sometimes have this and that personality than ascribing their behavior over planets and constellations tilting a few degrees or aligning at the same time as their birth.

The flaw is not factoring in age, cultural differences, gender, and life circumstances. It doesn't really get every detail right but if I had to cold read the room and determine my success rate at trying to find which one would be the most compatible person to converse with, I'd use this as a basis in mind.

INTJ rules for life are solid advices.

There are no stupid people.

This piece of advice is what separates a mature INTJ versus someone that falls into a stereotyped asshole seen often in the younger years. The pathway to getting along with people isn't to resist their ideas but identifying why their ideas are that then rework your approach in the relationship without compromising your own integrity.

hahahahaha that part too, 4-3 years ago, I would still say someone is stupid in public and even more so if they're wrong & logically flawed. These days, I learned to just quietly listen while also thinking how stupid they are. Although sometimes you could still see it all over my face haha

Keep exploring and embrace your unique path..

This went over my head, I have never heard of this. Mind you growing up we had none of this, you just got with it. That thing called life and figured it out as you went.
I have heard of Carl Jung though right enough.

hahaha yeah! I think these days we have information overload and overexposed. I recently listened to a podcast that basically mentioned how kids these days are living live through other's experience rather than actually trying to live it on their own. When you actually start living, I guess none of this just don't matter?

I think Nike hit the nail on the head with the iconic slogan ....

Just Do It

Yeah I think people are so worried about learning how to live properly, they just need to do it...

I am guilty as charged too but I learned from it. These days I am just living it, no fear & shame anymore haha

Yeah but you learned and you are still young.
Shame, what the fluff is that 🤣

It’s not easy making big adjustments like this but it’s important. I love doing things while listening to podcasts! I’m going to be folding laundry soon and popping on a podcast to see what I can learn while doing the mundane.
