Yo, guys! I just came back from a bar where I went to watch the PSG vs Arsenal match.
In the first half something crazy happened just few seconds away from the bar. Some hefty armed thugs came to kidnap a woman and while dragging her away some guy who was watching the match with us stood up and went to help her. The guy got shot in his leg.
Unfortunately for him it was a pump action so his leg got shattered and it's definitely over for that leg. Clearly the bad guys didn't want to kill him so they went for the leg or else they could have gone for his chest or something.
I didn't see all of these happening, I only heard the gun shot because it was really close. People scattered, but I didn't, I only took cover there in the bar. If I scampered with the rest I would have seen some things, probably.
But I couldn't risk it. Anyone with brains should know that when there are gunshots you don't run helter skelter, you take cover.
It was the guys who returned and the guys who were outside from the start who spent the rest of the match narrating the story and that was how I knew the details.
The ambulance came for the wounded guy and I started feeling like the police might come. They never came, but I was anticipating it and wishing there was a way those bad guys could be tracked. Most likely a long investigation would ensue which might not even yield results.
My thinking led me to come up with some idea for a tracking technology that would change the world if it could be created. We've created more advanced things so this should be nothing.
The Tracking Technology Idea
How about we have satellites over countries and these satellites detect every time a gun is shot, and when it detects this it simply puts the shooter on a radar and that way wherever the shooter goes we would be able to find them by just looking at the radar?
I just gave you a mental orgasm, right? You're welcome, it's one of the perks of being in the same space with a genius.
We definitely can work this out if we try. We already have satellites, and GPS and too many other things. All we need is some technology sensitive enough to detect gunshots and marking and "radarizing".
Think of all the crimes this would solve. The only problem is the governments might not like this as many of their crimes would be easily uncovered. Governments have the most armed men and they'll surely not be fine with their men being easily identified when they carry out some covert operations.
Police brutality, assassinations, things like these. But maybe this would be a good technology to sell to governments so that only governments would have control over it and use it to catch criminals, mass shooters, etc.
The End
Hi there, buy my novella Professor Otagburuagu. It promises to be thoroughly entertaining and intellectually stimulating. Written by myself and illustrated by Scandinavian artist @ katharsisdrill. You can get it from me for just 4 HBD.
You can also order the hard copy from anywhere in the world via this link:

Thank you!
I'm quite certain that the technology needed to catch criminals of any kind already exists. We had a protest in my home country a few years back where everyone got quite rowdy, one of those people was wearing a unique t-shirt. The FBI tracked the shirt to an etsy store and then matched those who had ordered it with the cellphones that were around for the protest. The person was arrested within 24 hours despite covering their face etc. They can stop anything, they just don't.
I think this is a powerful message on the importance of security culture as well as the deep corruption of world governments.
Here's hoping the man who ran to help gets lucky with the leg, and the woman is found safely somehow... Sigh, this freaking world.
Whoa. True, when the government really wants to get shit done there's hardly any stopping them. They're sometimes just wont to do it when it comes to solving some cases.
This freaking world, really 🤦🏾♂️
The government will be the government. They might not like that kind or development since they are one way or the other benefiting from it. Imagine politicians who use tout to fight for election rigging. What do you expect? It is pathetic for the woman to have been kidnapped. I hope she is rescued in no time. And the good sarmaritan that got shot in the leg. It is so unfortunate, but I hope something can be done about it. In the part of the world, there is no accurate data to capture criminal.
If only the government have access to it I'm sure they'll like it 😅.
I wish the woman all the best, this was quite sad.
Definitely. I hope she gets released soon.
Really said to hear such a thing happen the guy. If he had known that such a thing would have happened, he probably wouldn't have at that area talk more of going to help the woman. Now those thieves still got away with the woman.
The tracking system of our security agencies are bad. Normally, when such a criminal receives money from the kidnapped victim, he would be tracked down through his calls they made to the relative culprit or their receiving bank account. But unfortunately, they will go free and next time, they will be motivated to do more.
Our security agencies really need to improve on these areas.
Getting satellites to detect a gunshot and track the culprit is a good idea, however,
it will require huge amount of investment.
Yeah, sad shit.
And I agree, it would take a lot of investment to accomplish, but it seems like a very useful technology.
Yes, it is a very useful tech but baba, even if you present such project and the breakdown to govt., it will seem as if it is an impossible task. When we haven't even gotten steady power supply and you are suggesting that one? 'Omo! This one na dead on arrival😅'
Hahahahah. It mustn't be the Nigerian government sha. No country has this tech so this is an idea I can sell to the world. I probably shouldn't even be talking about it here 😅
Good. Perhaps all these developed countries with enough budget for research and development as well as tech would buy the idea.
Yeah, exactly
I am not a proponent of governments getting any new tools to spy on people lol. Yes it may help in some situations but it just is going to be another excuse to collect information and spy on people without their consent.
It is a crazy and sad situation with the kidnapping hopefully they didn’t get the woman and she escaped!
Yeah, it's a tricky tool, I'll have to make a more detailed post about it talking about all the pros and cons I can think of.
She didn't escape, the bad guys left with her 🥲
That was a nice idea my friend, I hope government will address the issue in incidents like this. Maybe they should tighten the process in producing and giving guns to people
Thank you. I might try to go places with this idea too
Good to know it☺ good luck
