Grocery Shopping at an Asian Store🛒

What’s up Hive friends 👋 Hope you are all doing fine. For today’s blog, I’ll bring you to one of our weekend thing, grocery shopping!😅 Disclaimer, it’s not that I hate grocery shopping, but it isn’t my favorite thing to do either. But in the Philippines, I always love to visit and shop at the wet markets. Thank God, I am blessed with a husband who is very hands on when it comes to picking fresh food for a 2-week consumption. Well, he cooks too, so he definitely needs to know what to cook. 😁

Alright, everyone, this is Lee lee’s Oriental Supermart. This is one of the two Asian supermarkets in our place but we prefer coming to this over Lam’s as it is way bigger and offers more Asian food and products. Even after staying for 3 years in USA, my food palate never changed. I could not survive a day without rice 🤫 and my body would never get use to just cereal and milk and any American food.

We left our house around 4-ish in the afternoon and travelled around 15 minutes going to the store. As soon as we enter, we go right away to aisle number 7 where Filipino canned and bottled products are displayed. Here we get canned tuna and sardines, bottled condiments such as soy sauce, vinegar and seasonings. I also took a bottle of shrimp paste (uyap). Sadly, we always get disappointed to see that crispy fry breaded mix ran out of supply. Aside from the Philippines aisle, there is also one for Indians, Indonesians, Vietnam and Thailand. Moreover, on the other side of the store, most of Koreans and Japanese food products are displayed.

Welcome to aisle #7 where canned sardines cost 150 pesos but since we can’t always have it, it is still worth it. My hubby doesn’t want to purchase it before but when we crave for it, then we gotta get it.

Then hubby proceeds to the meat section where he spends quarter of our time as he is very picky when it comes to choosing the meat products. We typically get chicken wings and thighs, pork spare ribs and pork chop, and beef bone for soup.
In this section, we also get chicken liver and gizzards. Then we drop by the frozen seafood section to get shrimp. Even if we wanted to cook fish it isn’t convenient as the landlord hate the smell of it so we have to cook it outside. Also, we always check the refrigerated area where we get seasoned bangus and ready to cook lumpia.
Today is special as we saw in the liquor section that red horse is available, so hubby took 1 set of it. It is also hard to come by.

Last section that we often visit is the fresh produce where we get fresh Asian vegetables and spices. On our way to it, we just picked shrimp as it is in the seafood section. This day, we decided to get spinach, mushroom and bitter gourd (ampalaya) .

While going to the cashier, we saw our favorite snacks so we also took a pack of
Fudger bar and 3 packs of Hansel which I will be sharing to my students for the valentines day.

We were starving after all the walking so we found the nearest starbucks to get some snacks. Using the app, we order ahead online so when we get to the place we just have to wait for a little while. This location is packed with students as many of them are doing school works . I ordered my favorite dragon fruit lemonade while hubby got a matcha tea. I usually order this drink with less ice and extra scoop of dragon fruit. We also had sandwiches with it.

After several minutes of chitchat and snacks satiate our appetite, we decided to call it a day and drive home safely. This is our typical weekend grocery day.

Hope you had a good time reading my blog friends. 👋
See you again on my next one. 💙
