RE: Curbing by Design for Market Friday

in Market Friday2 years ago

How wonderful it looks Denise 🥰 truly a craftsmanship. Never seen anything like this border that is based on cement. The colour matches so well. Now your garden and grass will establish well and when the weather is cooler again you can add new plants here and there.
Love your garden!

Great you went to a show and got information about things in and around the house. With those kind of things you can scout out the best people for your job.
Happy Friday @dswigle 👋🏻☀️ Enjoy your “new” garden it looks stunning.

Thank you so much for your words! It is pretty cool, the way they did it, and I am hoping when I finish planting more that it won't be commercial looking. (Like visiting a bank! LOL) I love gardening. It is so very relaxing, just wandering around, getting my hands in the dirt.

Le sigh.

I do like those Home Shows! You learn all about up-and-coming things for the house, the newest technology, and trends. Not that I really care about trends. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your comment! It is always such a pleasure to see you!

Have an awesome weekend!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Hello Denise 👋🏻😁
You are so welcome. I’m sure when more plants are added it will change the look. It doesn’t look commercial to me. I like it.
One of my favourite things too, working in a garden. In the rental we are now I don’t have a garden but after our move we will… can’t wait to start some vegetables, fruits and herbs. Soon… 😉

Yes, love those home shows, renovating, gardens etc. I studied engineering and always did my own renovations. Especially now we know we move we are watching them again, for ideas.

Anytime dear @dswigle I so enjoy reading your posts and wise words 🥰
Have a truly wonderful weekend 👋🏻☀️

I am so excited for you! I hope it is a great move. I know that renting is the way to go when you are moving around every few years, but because of the kids, bought a house so that they could feel like they had an anchor. I planted peach trees and apple trees, and blackberry and raspberry bushes. They already had a thing called plum-cherry trees and pear trees. It is on the Atlantic Coast with a few acres and great neighbors who watch for storms coming in. It has a huge pecan/black walnut tree too.

That has been a forever renovation project, although it's livable. An old Victorian House from 1869. But, I love it and it has been fun to fool around with it. So yes! I love home shows too! I don't care about trends either! It is fun doing your own renovations! Challenging, sometimes, but, still fun.

Yes. I just kept going on and on @littlebee4 , all to say that I love gardening too! All different kinds.

Thank you so much @dswigle 😁 we first will move into a rental and than want to buy to settle down. As both, my husband and I, are longing for it. We are not getting any younger. We met almost 6 years ago… just married and now it’s time to settle down somewhere. A cute little house that we will renovate, make ours and a garden. That’s our little dream. We moved to much, ok my husband not that much, but I sure did. Time to grow some roots and I feel we are making the right choice… 😁👋🏻

I so understand, for kids it’s different and the best to do. And you planted so many fruit trees. How lovely. Yes an Victorian house… my dream too. It doesn’t have to be perfect. We can fix it lovingly up.
I so get you 🥰😁

Keep going, I so don’t mind Denise, it’s lovely to talk to you.

Rentals are the best way to go, then you can feel the vibe of the city/town and decide where is best suited for your needs. I did that here too.

We are not getting any younger.

If you find a cure for that, will you let me know?

The Victorian was first, wanting something close to the ocean and out of the city- a fun reno job! Then built the current house outside of the city. I was living in Washington, DC. The Victorian is fun and the reno is interesting and have learned a lot. Plus, there is nothing like old-world charm. One of the reasons I like New England is that older homes are easy to find and (to me) always offer such warmth and charm. The houses look lovingly built and these newer houses are nice, but, they lack that. Of course, I love my house, that is just an observation.

I pay it forward on properties. I always plant something pretty or useful. Nut trees are for the future. I have 17 black walnut and 17 pecans spread out throughout the property. Whoever planted them was thinking generational. These are all over 100 years old. They also planted English Boxwood which is a slow grower. The nursery that came out to look at them and show me how to trim them offered to buy them. He said they were quite amazing and over 100 years old, although still healthy. They are the boxwoods that look like little clouds of the bush instead of cutting straight across.

Anyway, I think you will have a lot of fun~!!

That’s what we thought. First a rental and explore the area. Find the right spot and than buy. It so makes sense 😁

Ok, if I find the cure… I let you know 😊

Yes, renovating such an iconic house does teach you a lot. And like you said, many around New England that are looking for some TLC.
I so understand what you mean. The older houses have charm and give a certain warmth. The newly builds mostly lack that. I love older houses just for that. And don’t start about all the woodwork that can be inside…. And a fireplace… love love love 🥰

That’s a great way to pay it forward. Think I also left something useful for others in gardens when we moved. But nuttrees are just for the long term. That sounds amazing that they are over 100 years old.

Hahaha he wanted to buy them, of course… in that condition they are worth so much, he can’t pay you that. Those should never be moved. Enjoy them 😊

I always have and spread my fun and love around 👋🏻😊

I have been using Zillow.com to look at property back home in Connecticut or Massachusetts or Long Island, NY. The prices have fallen in some places, but hold on to your hats. As the interest rates go up, the bottom will come out of the market. In Connecticut, for instance, the prices are so low, compared to what they were. But, guess what? The taxes are not! The taxes did not drop with the prices! That is a little unusual!

I have fun too - I just finally finished life with the family and will continue marketing!

Yikes! Running so late!

Wait and see.
