Pets and the Bonding with Humans - Sad Demise of Leo

Hi Friends,

Back in 2021, I had posted a blog about addition of a new family member to our family in the form of a Labrador dog by name Leo and the details I shared in this blog and it was happy member of our family for all these years until this Tuesday, as we lost Leo for long time illness although, it fought well all these days, but, couldn't take it anymore and left us this week.

It was One of those dogs which we treated him like our brother only and use to share all the love and joy as it grew all these years and truly been a family member for us.

My cousin (who is there in the above photo with Leo) brought it when it was just 9 months old as One of his friends were moving out of country and were looking for a new family for Leo and since then, the Four member family of my cousin (he, his sister and parents) welcomed Leo and had been a Fifth member ever since and use to welcome us by barking and used to be around us whenever we visited our cousins and family.

That's how it was when it was brought by my cousin and it was very lean and used to be very mischievous, but gradually it got adjusted to the new family and was a reason of joy for kids, and whole family and my cousin means a loot to Leo and it use to sense him even from a distance when he use to turn towards house from main road and no words now to console my cousin :(

Whenever my and my sister's families visited him, he always treated us like family and kids used to play with him like anything and although it used to be mischievous in the beginning, it started loving the kids and whenever we go to cousin's place, it used to be so happy and didn't want it to be tied and whatever we eat, it wanted a share of it whether it's sweets or cake or even the bread stuffs.

Many says pets are more loyal to humans and that truly applies to Leo as it use to wait for my cousin whenever he goes to College and will eat food stuff with more joy from him.

Raksha Bandhan is a ritual we celebrate normally to strengthen the bonding between brothers and sisters and we use to have those colored band like things tied by our sisters around our wrist and we believe that, these Rakhis protect us from bad omens and sisters are the protection to brothers.

As we can see in above photo, my sisters and our family use to visit my cousins most of the time during Rakhi festival and Leo use to be part of our celebrations.

For that matter, not just Raksha Bandhan, he was part of our celebrations all through the festivals and we are surly gonna miss him when we visit them next time.

That's the last photo I have of Leo and he looked so tired and fought thru all the pain and although he was treated by a Doctor, he couldn't survive.

He was taken to the hospital on his last day and some blood tests were recommended and when that formality completed and he was taken back to home, he left us while on the way back home and it was a shocking news for all of us and we can't console my cousin as he is still sitting in a corner and not out of that pain of losing a family member.

I think, the solution we are thinking of consoling him is to bring another Leo and let it bring that lost lost love and console our cousin, but that is not gonna replace the loss of Leo although we forget about the lost souls as the days move on, but Leo will be on our thoughts for many more days if not years.

I am sure, most of you too have One or the other pets and we all love those just like our family member and how do you cope up when we have that pain of a separation of such loved One?
