My Kminito (the baby)

Hola mis consecuentes amigos de Hive. Es un gusto saludarles y desearles siempre lo mejor. En este escrito quiero hablarles de nuestro perrito: un hermoso canino de raza Poodle. Quizás muchos de ustedes son dueños de un perrito o de un gatito y sé que pensarán, al igual que yo que tenerlos en casa es motivo de alegría constante y que llenan nuestra vida de momentos inigualables.

Hello my consistent Hive friends. It is a pleasure to greet you and wish you always the best. In this post I want to tell you about our little dog: a beautiful Poodle. Perhaps many of you are owners of a puppy or a kitten and I know that you will think, as I do, that having them at home is a constant source of joy and that they fill our life with incomparable moments.

Esta historia es realmente algo particular porque luego de perder a mi perrita Manchita Carolina sufrimos mucho y pasamos mucho de tiempo bastante tristes, por tal motivo no tenía la menor intención de traer otra mascota a casa. Pero como dice una famosa canción "la vida te da sorpresas", en nuestro caso así sucedió, llegó a casa una gran sorpresa. Resulta que uno de mis hijos tenía una perrita (por cierto todavía está con él) que salió embarazada. Como él trabajaba necesitaba alguien que la cuidara porque el embarazo era de alto riesgo, así que recurrió a mí y no pude decirle que no. Mi corazón se derritió al verla con su pancita.

This story is really something particular because after losing my dog Manchita Carolina we suffered a lot and spent a lot of time quite sad, for that reason I had no intention of bringing another pet home. But as a famous song says "life gives you surprises", in our case that's how it happened, a big surprise came home. It turns out that one of my sons had a little dog (she is still with him by the way) that got pregnant. Since he was working he needed someone to take care of her because the pregnancy was high risk, so he turned to me and I couldn't say no. My heart melted when I saw her. My heart melted to see her with her tummy.

Desde que estaban en la barriguita una muchacha le había pedido uno de los perritos a mi hijo porque a ella se le había perdido el que tenía. Le dijo que se llamaba Kminito y era blanquito. Pero solo lo aceptaría si tenía las mismas características. Llegado el momento la perrita dio a luz cuatro hermosos y peluditos cachorritos. Tres machos y una hembra. Pero ninguno era blanquito. Solo el último en nacer era de color blanco champañizado. Mi hijo les buscó un hogar a cada uno menos al pequeñín porque era para la muchacha. Pero ella al verlo dijo que no lo quería. Entonces otro de mis hijos que estaba súper encantado con él me pidió permiso para quedárselo. Así que allí estaba yo, recibiendo de nuevo un peludito en mi vida.

Since they were in the tummy a girl had asked my son for one of the puppies because she had lost the one she had. She told him his name was Kminito and he was white. But she would only accept it if it had the same characteristics. When the time came, the dog gave birth to four beautiful and furry puppies. Three males and one female. But none of them were white. Only the last one to be born was white and mottled. My son looked for a home for each of them except the little one because it was for the girl. But when she saw him she said she didn't want him. Then another one of my sons, who was very happy with him, asked me for permission to keep him. So there I was, welcoming a little furry one back into my life.

Desde antes de nacer lo habíamos llamado Kminito a petición de la amiga de mi hijo, por eso decidimos dejarle el mismo nombre. Este perrito ha sido todo un personaje único y original. Lo digo no solamente por el nombre, sino también por el comportamiento totalmente distinto a otros canes. Cuando comenzó a caminar lo hacía para atrás, algo que generó en nosotros tanta risa que le pusimos por apodo el nombre de un famoso cantante que en cada una de sus presentaciones realizaba su icónico baile que consistía en dar pasos hacia atrás al ritmo de la música. También de pequeñín era muy travieso. Un día llegué del trabajo y veo una tira de papel higiénico que iba desde el baño hasta la sala, y al final de la tira estaba él con un pedacito de papel pegado de la naricita. Casi me da un infarto, pero de la risa. Era tan ocurrente.

Since before he was born we had named him Kminito at the request of my son's friend, so we decided to leave him the same name. This little dog has been a unique and original character. I say this not only because of the name, but also because of his behavior, which is totally different from other dogs. When he started to walk he did it backwards, something that made us laugh so much that we gave him the nickname of a famous singer who in each of his presentations performed his iconic dance that consisted of stepping backwards to the rhythm of the music. He was also very naughty when he was little. One day I came home from work and saw a strip of toilet paper that went from the bathroom to the living room, and at the end of the strip was him with a little piece of paper stuck to his little nose. I almost had a heart attack, but from laughing. He was so witty.

Le encantaba una pelota, así que disfrutaba mucho jugando con ella. Yo se las confeccionaba utilizando medias viejas o papel de bolsa. Y en ocasiones le compraba una de goma. También tenía por costumbre sacar las medias de los zapatos de mis hijos y jugar con ellas. Otro día que llegué a casa lo encontré sobre mi cama y me había ensuciado las sábanas. Allí sí casi que me da un infarto, pero literal. Lo discipliné y aún así me lo hizo varias veces hasta que ya no más. Menos mal.

He loved a ball, so he really enjoyed playing with it. I would make them for him using old socks or paper bags. And sometimes I would buy him a rubber one. I also used to take the socks out of my children's shoes and play with them. Another day when I came home I found him on my bed and he had soiled my sheets. Then I almost had a heart attack, but literally. I disciplined him and he still did it several times until no more. Thank goodness.

Una de las cosas a la que siempre le huye es a la hora de bañarse. Literalmente se esconde donde primero encuentre y cuando lo vamos a buscar está tembloroso. Al intentar sacarlo se aferra y se pone tan pesado que casi nos resulta imposible y entonces lo tenemos que agarrar por una patita y arrastrarlo. Es toda una divertida odisea. En cuanto a personalidad siempre ha sido muy tierno. Aquí lo llamamos "el paternal" porque demuestra esa actitud hacia los animalitos más pequeños. Por ejemplo a la primera gatita que tuvimos él la cuidaba mucho y le encantaba dormir con ella. Le daba besitos y luego quedaban los dos acurrucaditos. Y si se acerca a casa otro minino él también lo cuida. Es sumamente tierno.

One of the things he always runs away from is bath time. He literally hides wherever he can find it first and when we go to get him he is shaky. When we try to get him out he clings and gets so heavy that it's almost impossible and then we have to grab him by one paw and drag him out. It's quite a fun odyssey. Personality-wise he has always been very cuddly. Here we call him "the paternal" because he shows that attitude towards the smallest animals. For example, the first kitten we had, he took great care of her and loved to sleep with her. He would give her kisses and then the two of them would cuddle together. And if another kitten comes home he takes care of it too. He is extremely tender.
