Cuando cualquier persona te dice que tiene una mascota en casa, lo más normal es que nos imaginemos que tiene un perro, un gato, un pájaro o incluso una tortuga. Pero…¿y si en realidad tiene una serpiente como mascota? ¿o una tarántula? Creo que eso sería lo último que se nos pasaría por la mente. Aunque esto no es extraño, la verdad es que tengo amigos Biólogos que han llegado a tener este tipo de animales exóticos en sus hogares, más que todo porque tienen una pasión increíble por los animales.

You know that I do not have to insist too much to join the interesting initiatives that users create within our wonderful platform. This time it was my super friend @ilazramusic who invited me to participate in this initiative created by himself and the truth is that I found the theme super interesting.
When anyone tells you that they have a pet at home, the most normal thing is that we imagine that they have a dog, a cat, a bird or even a turtle. But....what if they really have a pet snake, or a tarantula? I think that would be the last thing that would cross our minds. Although this is not strange, the truth is that I have biologist friends who have even had these kinds of exotic animals in their homes, mostly because they have an incredible passion for animals.

En lo personal, siempre he sido fan número 1 de los animales, aunque nunca he tenido la oportunidad de tener uno en casa. Sólo llegué a tener unos pececitos y eso ha sido todo. Nada de perros, nada de gatos, nada de loros, nada de hámsters ¿la razón? Bueno, he vivido con mis abuelos durante toda mi vida y ellos no son muy fanáticos de tener un animalito como mascota, sobretodo cuando uno vive en un apartamento y el animal no tiene un espacio tan amplio en el cual pueda estar.
Siempre he pensado en querer adoptar a un perrito para tenerlo a mi lado como compañero de vida, pero si tuviese la oportunidad de tener un animal exótico como mascota, ¿cuál sería?...esta sin duda es una pregunta que nunca se me había pasado por la mente, así que muchas gracias Guille por hacerme pensar en esto. Pero ahora sí, luego de haber pensado un poco, les contaré cuáles son esas mascotas exóticas que me gustaría tener.
Personally, I have always been a number 1 fan of animals, although I have never had the opportunity to have one at home. I only got to have a few little fish and that was it. No dogs, no cats, no parrots, no hamsters, why? Well, I have lived with my grandparents all my life and they are not a big fan of having an animal as a pet, especially when you live in an apartment and the animal doesn't have a big space to be in.
I have always thought about adopting a dog to have it by my side as a life companion, but if I had the opportunity to have an exotic animal as a pet, what would it be?...this is certainly a question that had never crossed my mind, so thank you very much Guille for making me think about this. But now, after having thought a little bit, I will tell you which are those exotic pets I would like to have.

Yo no conocía de este animalito tan encantador hasta que vi un programa en la televisión en donde hablaban acerca de ellos y, en principio, me llamó mucho la atención el nombre que poseen. Quizás a muchos no les parezca tan lindo este animalito debido a que tiene unos grandes ojos y orejas, pero a mí me resultan sumamente encantadores además de que ellos no son para nada agresivos, de por sí suelen tener un carácter bastante simpático.
Son confundidos enormemente con las ardillas voladoras pero a diferencia de estas que son roedores, los petauros son marsupiales. Les voy a dejar aquí un vídeo para que vean lo tiernos que son y los geniales que se ven cuando planean, esto último me ha sumado como 10 años más de vida y de felicidad.

Ay, ¡las guacamayas! Estas aves siempre me han parecido tan maravillosas, los colores vibrantes en su plumaje es algo realmente increíble y además poseen una inteligente asombrosa. En Caracas es muy normal ver a estas aves, sobretodo las de plumaje azul y amarillo, volando por la ciudad. Recuerdo que cuando asistía a clases a la Universidad muy temprano en la mañana era muy normal escuchar su sonido peculiar desde nuestras aulas de clase. Incluso casi al final de la tarde, cuando yo regresaba de mi jornada estudiantil, las veía volar cerca de los edificios en donde vivo. También he conocido de personas que han tenido la oportunidad de tenerlas de visitantes en los balcones de sus apartamentos. Realmente es una lástima que estas aves estén sometidas a la caza ilegal.
Evidentemente, ellas no califican como mascotas, pues son animales voladores y evidentemente se mueven mucho. Simplemente necesitan de libertad y mantenerlas presas dentro de una jaula sería una maldad terrible, pero ¿se imaginan tener una y poder asombrarse con su maravillosa belleza en vivo y directo día tras día?

Los camaleones siempre me han parecido uno de los animales más interesantes debido a su capacidad para cambiar el color de su piel según cualquier circunstancia: temperatura, estado de ánimo, peligro, etc. Además de que también tienen una visión de casi 360°, ¡eso es una locura! Y ok, está bien, quizás no sean uno de los animales más tiernos y adorables pero, pueden cambiar de color en un breve instante de tiempo para poder camuflajearse y pasar desapercibidos, sí, algo parecido a Randall en Monster Inc y ya con ese hecho se vuelve uno de los reptiles exóticos más vistoso y que más llama la atención. Aunque algo interesante, es que no todos son capaces de adoptar toda la variedad de colores, realmente los camaleones son unos animales bastante complejos.
A mí si me resulta un animal sumamente hermoso y fascinante y, no sé si lo sabían, pero existen 160 especies reconocidas de este reptil, cada una con características diferentes claro está.
Tengo entendido que en muchos países es legal tener a este reptil como mascota, sólo que, evidentemente, los cuidados que hay que darle son bastante estrictos para que el camaleón no tenga ningún problema y crezca feliz en el hogar de una persona. Pero en serio, si yo tuviera suficiente dinero como para mantener a un animal así y asegurarle una alimentación y hábitat adecuados, no me lo pensaría dos veces en tener uno.
