We have an entire squad of godzillas of link sharing π who generate dozens of thousands of views weekly (check out the HivePosh contest). But there are also many HivePosh users who have plenty of room to grow as link sharers. For them, here are dos and don'ts based on my observations from daily reviewing Hive link shares.
#1
Show that you are not a bot or bot-like person (aka a spammer), or else your account may be suspended by Reddit, especially if it's new. To do so:
- share your images without links,
- comment,
- re-post,
- engage below your shares when you can.
I don't ask you, dear reader, to invest too much extra time in your Reddit account but just keep it neat otherwise you might lose it.
Choose your own easiest way of doing so: maybe you love some game so it'd be easy for you to engage in a subreddit dedicated to it. Or, if you take cute pix of flowers/pets on your phone, find a sub about flowers/pets to post there. Etc.
#2
Don't share Hive links in subreddits dedicated to Hive and its projects: HivePosh doesn't reward this activity because it mostly exposes Hive to people who already have Hive accounts.
There are only two exceptions to this rule: r/Splinterlands and r/Holozing.
#3
Don't share Hive links on your own account page reddit.com/user/[yourusername]
It brings almost no exposure to Hive links. You will not get rewards for such shares.
#4
Don't share links in r/blog, r/blogger, r/BloggersCommunity, r/Bloggers: these are mostly dead subs that offer minimum exposure to Hive.
Shares in these subs get very low HivePosh rewards. We consider them the sandbox, that's why they are not banned from HivePosh.
Share links only in subs with a topic.
You can search for a subreddit on Reddit:
Or choose a subreddit from our Hive-friendly subreddit list (the list is not complete, of course, it is constantly being updated).
#5
We have a group of people who share only in r/Splinterlands, and that's fine. If someone blogs about this game, it's totally fine to share only in r/Splinterlands.
But it's important to know that shares in r/Splinterlands are unlikely to generate many upvotes and bring much exposure to Hive. So, if, one day, you want to be more helpful and get better HivePosh rewards, consider sharing Hive links in other subs too.
#6
Don't brigade for milking HivePosh through upvoting each other's shares.
The most valuable thing you have is your reputation on Hive. The attitude of other Hivers towards you may significantly worsen, and it would be hard to repair. Not to mention, you can get banned from HivePosh.
#7
For sharing links, choose a post type 'Link' or 'Text'. If using 'Text', a Hive link share must be a short teaser with a link visible in preview. If you are unsure about "teaser" and "visible in preview", simply choose a post type 'Link':
#8
Sometimes users create subreddits about Hive and hope that HivePosh will support them.
If you want to create a subreddit, choose any topic other than Hive, get at least 200 subscribers, and then HivePosh might start voting for shares in this sub provided it's a real subreddit, not just a place for dropping links.
I hope someone will find this post useful. If you still have questions, suggestions, or additions, I'll be glad to see your thoughts in the comments section below! π

I've noticed reddit is way more restrictive and such compared to Facebook and instragram where basically you can do what you want
Yup, there are some differences between social media... Reddit can be stricter in some questions because, for example, you can get hundreds of upvotes or even hundreds of visitors (to your website) with a new Reddit account on day 1. It's quite unique. Despite this, they officially don't mind people sharing links. They just want people to engage.
But also subs have often weird rules, and not just to share links or drop a text post, even to comment, I have seen some and I was like "come on one can't even comment here"
In some communities, if you post a link to PeakD or any Hive front-end, they just delete it due to lack of knowledge. It's complicated to share some things on Reddit and Subreddit, I miss Posh on Twitter.
I finally shared my first link on Reddit yesterday haha! ππΌ
Congrats! π But please don't hurry with sharing multiple links. Several-day-old accounts can get easily suspended. Post images from your mobile or use your Hive content there, comment something, etc, as described above in the post.
Yes, will take it slow, yesterday was just a trial to see how it goes down.
Unfortunately Reddit is banned in Vietnam. Trying VPN to access reddit :)
Try Opera browser with a built-in VPN. It might help. I remember it helped me once when I had trouble accessing a website from Vietnam.
I am still Vietnam but, I guess, the hostel of the internet provider of the hostel has an included VPN - everything works fine without VPN here.
Thanks. I will try it.
Happy Lunar New Year and enjoy Tet in Vietnam.
Thank you! Happy Lunar New Year! Enjoy the holiday!
So when I'm sharing splinterlands links on reddit... will it be better to do so in for example a web3 group instead of splinterlands group (or can I do both?)
It depends on the post. A post about what Splinterlands is, for example, might earn more upvotes in other subs. But in general, r/splinterlands is the best for sharing splinterlands content. However, this content never earns many upvotes and views because r/splinterlands is small and isn't that active.
I don't know if it's just me but hiveposh might be missing shares?
just shared this but seems like didn't get caught by bot
edit: second share not getting caught

the site https://hiveposh.com/ seems down aswell, prolly related issue
It's not only you, it was down for half a day. The devs don't report to me, so I can't even say why. π
That's too bad, one has 14 likes or so π
I love farming Karma on Reddit, it enables some receptors in my head when I see a number go up.
I've noticed myself get more skilled in sharing Hive links on Reddit, by reading rules of subreddits more carefully and scanning the "New" section to see what type of content generally goes into said subreddits.
Well done; I need to be better at that, too! It is easy to be careless, as I did the other day, especially when content awaits sharing. The best thing to do is scrutinize the rules so as not to miss any.
Also, I noticed as I was testing on sharing a few on smaller subs - more than five crossposts can alarm them and can be considered spam; if possible, limit the crossposting to three, maybe?
I never cross post, I post once in a sub and that's it
That's good.
I seldom crosspost.

I am going to write some words in HivePosh Weekly about recent achievements... I should regularly praise HivePosh initiative, otherwise, no one will notice all the progress (which is actually huge).
/Thank you @blkchn for reminding me to check this page - together with @davideownzall recent success, it will make a good HivePosh Weekly post/
