The experience that left a mark

I believe everyone on hive has their favorite moments. That moment they'll never forget. These moments help form our happy memories on hive. I am not left out. I have had several experiences that are unforgettable, but one stands out.

One of my favorite experiences on hive was when I was announced as one of the winners of a contest for the first time. I was a newbie back then. I was still trying to gain my footing on hive. I was still in the process of perfecting my writing. I never expected that I would win a contest anytime soon.

I had been participating in several contests for some time just for the fun of it. Winning was never really on my mind. A major reason for this was because there were so many great writers who also participated. These were writers I looked up to. I loved their writing style. These writers are so good that I gave up hope of winning. I felt I couldn't compete with them, so there was no need to raise my hopes.

This time, I made my entry as usual. I must admit that I tried my best to make the post good enough in terms of quality and as captivating as I could. I also enjoyed reading the posts of others. Days after, I got a notification that I was mentioned in the community.

I checked, and it was the post announcing the winners. I was announced as one of the winners. I couldn't believe it at first. As a newbie back then, it meant so much to me. To me, winning that contest meant I was making huge improvements in my writing. For my post to be chosen ahead of so many great posts, it meant I was doing something right. It meant that my efforts were appreciated. Above all, it felt special.

That's a moment I will never forget. It spurred me to keep improving myself with each passing day on hive. When you get rewarded for doing something great, you will be motivated to do more. Winning that contest was the spark I needed. I developed this confidence that I too can participate in contests and aim to win. I wasn't just participating for the fun of it anymore, I was participating because I believed I was able to churn out good enough content that could stand out and captivate the minds of readers.

It might seem like a small moment to cherish, but I cherish it nonetheless. I do hope for more amazing experiences in the future.
